Andhra Pradesh State Council for Higher Education (APSCHE) has decided to conduct a Common Entrance Test for PG admission in state universities and their affiliated colleges from 2021-22 academic session. The exam has tentatively been named as AP PGCET (Andhra Pradesh Post Graduate Common Entrance Test). With the implementation of a single entrance exam, the individual university-level PG entrance exams such as ANU PGCET, AUCET, SVUCET, Rayalaseema University CET, SKUCET, Nannaya CET, KRUCET and YUVCET shall be scrapped. Students aspiring for PG admission in any of these universities or their affiliated colleges will need to appear for AP PGCET.
The same idea was implemented in Telangana in 2019. A common entrance test for PG admission, i.e., TS CPGET was implemented. The single entrance exam for PG admission in AP universities and colleges will be beneficial to students, as it will help students to get admission in any PG college across the state through a single entrance exam. Students will be refrained from submitting forms for multiple entrance exams for PG admission.
APSCHE has not yet confirmed the exam pattern, syllabus and other details of the entrance exam. The syllabus of the entrance exam will mostly be based on the UG syllabus of the respective course. The detailed notification for the entrance exam will be released soon. Due to the second wave Covid-19 pandemic, the common entrance test for PG admissions is expected to be conducted in August or September.
