Union Minister of Skill Development, Mr. Rajiv Pratap Rudy indicated that the Centre is taking all the possible steps to improve the quality of Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs). The idea behind the efforts in this regard is to promote ITIs among youth with respect to skill development by proper branding. Mr. Rudy was addressing a review meeting of Skill Development department in Ranchi. He pointed out that there are about 13,000 ITIs across the country out of which 3,000 are run by the government.

He further assured that ITIs would set a benchmark in the near future. Improving the quality and standard of ITIs will make it possible. Currently, ITIs have been conducting online exams, results of which are usually declared instantly. He also appreciated the efforts taken by the Jharkhand government in developing the Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs).

Mr. Rudy also pointed that Chhattisgarh was the first state to set a benchmark in skill development by providing training in various skills in the age group of 14 – 45 years in 2013. The state government had also allocated Rs. 400 crore funds for skill development programmes during the financial year of 2015-16.
Mr. Rajiv Pratap Rudy has given his consent to set up new Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in four places that include: -
- Orchha (Narayanpur), Chhattisgarh
- Batoli (Surguja), Chhattisgarh
- Dhuldhula (Jashar district)
- Manora
The minister also informed the officials that the state government is training youth in vocational courses in 27 livelihood colleges across the state. He further added that the state government was successful in imparting vocational training to one lakh youth in 2016-17.
