IIT Gandhinagar to Conduct Soft Skills Training Programme for HODs of Engineering Colleges

IIT Gandhinagar is about to organise and host a one-day special programme for the Head of Departments of 150 Engineering Colleges of Gujarat. The programme will be coordinated by the US delegates.

IIT Gandhinagar to Conduct Soft Skills Training Programme for HODs of Engineering Colleges

Head of Departments of the Engineering Colleges in Gujarat will soon participate in a special programme organised by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Gandhinagar. The event named as ‘Finding the Leader in You’ will take place in the premises of IIT Gandhinagar. With an aim to incorporate, imbibe and practice the five major soft skills among the budding leaders of the academic field, the programme has been planned to be taken up by the US coordinators and personnel.

With the help of these skills, the professionals of the education system will learn to improve their performance in the workplace and classrooms. The special programme planned to take place on January 12, 2019, will also use internationally recommended best exercises for participatory and active learning technique for young enthusiasts. This is a one-day event that will include sessions on innovation, creativity, perseverance and ability to accept new initiatives and challenges to become more potentially strong.

The event will be an interactive session for the HODs of Engineering Colleges. Participation of 150 engineering institutions of the State will be witnessed in this one-day event. The skills identified as the outcome of an important study conducted in 2015-16 in India were under the guidance of Competitiveness Mindset Initiative of IIT-Gn and Bankworld Inc, USA.

With a notion of helping and creating more job opportunities in this fast-changing global economy and empowering the youths to become leaders of variant fields including academia, research and business, the coordinators will also cover the five non-cognitive skills.
