Mumbai University Extends Registration Deadline for UG Courses 2017-18

  • Mumbai University has extended the registration deadline for a total of five days until 21st June 2017.
  • It has received more than 2.95 lakh registrations for about 43 courses that are on offer.
  • Merit list will be released on 24th June 2017. 
Mumbai University Extends Registration Deadline for UG Courses 2017-18

Leading University of the country, Mumbai University has extended the registration deadline for a total of five days. Earlier, it was notified that the application could be sent until 16th June 2017. However, now, candidates willing to apply can do so until 21st June 2017.

The University had received more than 2.95 lakh registrations for about 43 courses that are on offer. As a candidate has the flexibility of applying for multiple courses through a single application, the University exclaimed that it had received a total of 8.95 applications till now.

Since the declaration of HSE exams was delayed, the University decided to extend the deadline for the applications so that more candidates can initiate and complete their application process.

Once the applications are successfully completed, the University will prepare a merit list which is scheduled to be released on Saturday, 24th June 2017.

So far, Commerce related courses have received the highest number of applications (more than 2.71 lakh). BMS course has alone received 1.43 lakh applications so far. B.Sc courses received nearly 74,000 applications while the Arts courses received about 58,000 applications.

While commenting on the number of applications, Hemlata Bagla, who is the Principal of K.C. College in Churchgate said that as a trend, it has been observed that students are opting for trade-specific courses such as Bachelor's degree in Financial Markets, Finance and Investments, B.Sc Biotechnology.

Further, beginning this year, the University aims to admit diploma holders in the Bachelor of Mass Media (BMM) programme as against the earlier rule of them only being able to apply for the Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS) programme.
