A one-day workshop was held at Nowgong College on May 26, 2016 on Choice-Based Credit System under the aegis of Nowgong College DBT Star College Scheme.
The workshop was inaugurated by Dr HP Sharma, Rector of Gauhati University and attended by Dr. Dulumoni Goswami of Gauhati University as a resource person. Dr. Goswami advocated accepting CBCS to keep pace with the changing academic scenario in today’s age of globalisation.
Academicians from different colleges of Nagaon district supported the new system. Biswajit Bhuyan, General Secretary of Assam College Teachers’ Association expressed ACTA’s view on CBCS.
The guests at the programme were introduced by Dr Farista Yasmin while Principal Dr S Borkotoky presided over the workshop as the Chair person.
Many new objectives were suggested at this workshop which also stated setting up of a university campus in the middle of Assam for the smooth introduction of CNCS and reducing the burden of the university authority. In addition, the workshop also emphasised on adding such courses where the local subjects get due weightage.
Along with this, a book entitled Gender Perspectives, edited by Dr Balin Kumar Bhuyan and Prof Nivedita Das Paul was formally released at the event by Dr HP Sharma of Gauhati University.
