The Union Government has reappointed Professor Anil Sahasrabuddhe as the Chairman of AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education). Mr. Sahasrabuddhe assumed the post as the Chairperson of AICTE on July 15, 2015. Earlier, he was a Mechanical Engineering Professor at IIT Guwahati.
The Appointments Committee of the Union Cabinet renewed the appointment of Professor Anil Sahasrabuddhe until he attains the age of 65 years. He has an illustrious career of 30 years as a professor, researcher and academician.

Professor Anil Sahasrabuddhe was an engineering graduate from BVB College of Engineering & Technology, Hubli. He completed the Mechanical Engineering course at the college and emerged as the topper of the batch. He was also awarded Gold Medal for his outstanding academic performance. Later, he completed Masters and Doctoral degree from IISc (Indian Institute of Science) Bangalore.
Apart from holding the position of Chairman of AICTE, Professor Anil Sahasrabuddhe is working as Chairperson & Expert Member on various National Level Committees. He is also an active member of different professional bodies/ societies.

Professor Anil Sahasrabuddhe received “Maha-Intrapreneur Award” of Praj Industries – Pune in 2011 for his exceptional leadership and innovative abilities in the field of Technology Development and Entrepreneurship.
As the Chairperson of AICTE, Professor Anil Sahasrabuddhe took up numerous initiatives to improve the standards of technical education in the country. It is during his term, internships were made mandatory to engineering students to improve employability chances.
