Launch of the ‘School of Media and Journalism’, was well received by industry experts and commenting on this new initiative of Pearl Academy, Prof. Jaishri Jethwaney, (Ph.D.) Media and Communication Division, Institute for Studies in Industrial Development said that the basic skill a journalist needs is to develop 'the nose for the news'. She added that this comes to those who are voracious readers; who keep their eyes and ears on what is happening around and to those who are sensitive towards people and their issues. A journalist has to be confident and fearless, so as to question the obvious and read between the lines. A constant probing mind is another trait that can be developed with time. The new offering from Pearl Academy is a step in the right direction and will provide the required training and exposure to future journalists who can use all sorts of media to create a lively story, which will, in turn, engage readers across platforms.
