Geetanjali Medical College and hospital’s Psychiatry department organized World schizophrenia Day at campus on dated May 24, 2016. On this occasion a seminar conducted for schizophrenia patient’s family and their attendants in the main hospitality of Dr. G. L. Dadh – Superintendent of Geetanjali Medical College and Hospital (GMCH)
In event, HOD of Psychiatric Department, Dr DM Mathur exposed the causes of disease schizophrenia, and explains it with a good explanation and examples to the attendants and family of schizophrenic patients; department's co-professors Dr. Jitendra Jingar explain the symptoms of schizophrenia and Dr. Manu Sharma, Assistant Professor of the Department explain the treatment and precautions for schizophrenia.
He also explains what is schizophrenia? “Schizophrenia is a serious disorder which affects how a person thinks, feels and acts. Someone with schizophrenia may have difficulty distinguishing between what is real and what is imaginary; may be unresponsive or withdrawn; and may have difficulty expressing normal emotions in social situations.”
Dr. Harish Mathur, professor of Community Medicine Department at Geetanjali Medical College & Hospital explained prevention from the disease and treatment to the family members. He also explained the behavior of the patient, and how we can make patient comfortable with our behavior. He said that only a proper medical diagnosis and treatment of the disease is the only prevention from the disease. At the end of the seminar, chief guest ended his speech with explaining the BPL Bhamashah Health Insurance plans available at hospital and also informed about free checkup on every Tuesday and Wednesday conducted at hospital.
