The signs of unemployment have been clearly seen in Adoni, Kurnool District, Andhra Pradesh. A local Government Office at Adoni issued notification for the attended and sweeper posts at office. The notification indicated that the candidates who have passed 7th or 10th standard are eligible to apply for the job. But the applications for the job were received from Graduates of the district. There were only 6 vacancies at the office and more than 315 graduates applied for the attender posts.

Among the applicants, most of them and B.Ed/B.A/B.Sc. graduates of the district. Most of the applicants are of age group 25-30 years. Notable thing is that all the applicants were women. The officials did not understand the situation as graduates applied for the job. No applications were received from 10th standard pass outs. There were only 6 posts and 315 applications received. The officials verified the certificates of the candidates and most of the candidates are in desperate situation whether they may get job or not.

This clearly indicates the signs of unemployment in the district. The government is not going to issue teacher recruitment notification in the coming years as the government is planning to shut down most of the government schools and rationalize the teachers. This made B.Ed. graduates to apply for this job. The other reason is most of the B.Ed. candidates are from Telugu medium backdrop and they are deprived of getting jobs in private schools as most of the private schools prefer English medium candidates as teachers.

The government is planning to provide more employment opportunities. But most of the graduates are most getting jobs relevant to their qualification. Most of the B.Ed. graduates who are from Telugu Medium backdrop are engaged in Self-employment schemes like making bakery products, tailoring and candle making.

The government must change its decision of shutting down government schools. The government must find a way to increase the strength of government schools by providing quality of education. The government must stop rationalizing the teachers and issue notification for the recruitment of teachers in the coming years.
