DMK MP Kanimozhi slammed the state government of Tamil Nadu for changing the education system to suit NEET or National Eligibility cum Entrance Test. She advised the state government to focus on upgrading the existing uniform syllabus. However, the state government failed to upgrade the syllabus, and the government is trying to change it, she added.
She further explained that the government is assuming that high-quality medical education is possible only if it brings NEET. The assumption of government is completely wrong, and the Tamil Nadu state is blessed with highly qualified doctors. Now, the government must focus on upgrading the syllabus instead of changing it to suit NEET.

Earlier, the government of Pondicherry also opposed implementation of NEET. The state government claimed that students cannot prepare for CBSE-centric NEET examination, as they were following the state syllabus. Therefore, the state government urged the centre to provide state students an exemption from NEET.
Many states faced the same situation where students are not familiar with the syllabus of NEET. Students relied on coaching institutes after the completion of board examinations, and they did not have enough time to prepare. It is about time that the state governments work towards upgrading the syllabus at par with CBSE's NEET.
