The Telangana education board has introduced free coaching classes, especially for rural students, to help them crack exams such as JEE, NEET, TS EAMCET etc. and better their chances of securing admission in the best engineering, medical and agricultural colleges in the state.

Telangana Board to Provide Free Exam Coaching Classes

Telangana State Board of Intermediate Examination (BIE) is planning to introduce free coaching programmes for the students enrolled in government junior colleges in the state to help them prepare for various competitive exams. The initiative is expected to be launched on 2nd October 2018. Coaching classes will be provided for entrance exams such as:

  • JEE - Joint Entrance Examination - for admission to IITs, NITs, IIITs and other government-funded institutes
  • NEET - National Eligibility Cum Entrance Exam - for admission to medical colleges across the country
  • TS EAMCET - Telangana Engineering Agriculture Medical Common Entrance Test - for admission in engineering, science, agricultural and other medical colleges in the state.

The Board is also planning to set up two centres of excellence in the Ranga Reddy and Hyderabad districts where such training sessions will be conducted exclusively.

According to the data available, there are about 90,000 students who are currently studying in more than 400 government junior colleges in the Telangana state. In order to screen candidates for enrollment in the free coaching classes programmes, the board will conduct a talent test and depending upon how much they score in the test, the students will be shortlisted. To begin with, 80 students will be selected for two batches of 40 students each for MOC and BiPC classes.

The main motive behind introducing free coaching classes for students is to encourage candidates, especially from rural areas to aim for prestigious colleges like IITs, NITs and other popular medical colleges apart from the usual ones. If the project shows positive results, the state may introduce more coaching centres in the future.
