The Bihar School Education Board (BSEB) has decided to commence English, Mathematics and Science Olympiad for students under the Board from 2019. The Olympiad will be conducted at three levels - preliminary stage which is the district-level, then comes the division level and the state-level. The decision was taken at a meeting by the governing body which was held in September 2019.
Class 9 to Class 12 students will be able to take part in this Olympiad Quiz Competition 2019. Anand Kishore, the Board President told media that the BSEB will launch the Olympiad in order to involve the secondary and senior secondary students in extra-curricular activities.
Although this year the Olympiad will only have a quiz competition, from next year onwards, the same will have a crossword puzzle as well. Apart from the three main subjects, the Olympiad will also include social know-how and general knowledge.

The BSEB Olympiad will be organised on December 18, 2019, prior to which every school should hold tests to decide which two students for every subject can represent their respective schools. The district-level test will be OMR-based and the result of the same will be declared on December 20, 2019.
The second level which is the division-level will be conducted on January 4, 2020. In this, 20 candidates per district for each subject can take part. The result of the same will be declared on January 6, 2020. The state level will be conducted on March 14, 2020, in which 40 candidates per division for each subject will take part. Eventually, four winners for each subject will be picked. The winners will be awarded cash prizes, laptops and medals.
The decision to conduct the Olympiad will not only motivate students but also improve their reasoning ability and push them to perform better in academics.
