The summer internship placement (SIP) program will begin on November 7, 2016, at IIM Bangalore for the students of IIM Bangalore and IIM Visakhapatnam. Various companies from the e-commerce, consulting and financial industry are likely to participate in the summer placement season this year.

The summer internship program (SIP) is organized yearly at IIM Bangalore as a part of the first year curriculum for PGP students. Over 407 students of IIM Bangalore’s PGP Batch 2016-18 will sit for the SIP. Apart from this, 54 students of IIM Visakhapatnam’s second PGP batch will also appear for IIM Bangalore’s SIP 2016. The students picked by the respective organizations will be offered a two-month summer internship around May 2017.
Along with the summer placements, IIM Bangalore will also mentor IIM Visakhapatnam’s final placements. The Summer Placement Programme at IIM Bangalore is organized every year to nurture the professional personality of management graduates enrolled at the institute. The aim of providing internship opportunities is to provide the students with real-world experience through industrial exposure.
Talking about the summer placement season at IIMB, Ganesh Prabhu, Chairperson of Career Development Services (CDS), IIM Bangalore, talked about SIP and said that the initiative has been appreciated by the visiting companies as well as the students. Summer internships offer the students necessary professional exposure and help them stand out in the competitive industry, he added.

Head of Career Development Services, IIM Bangalore, Sapna Agarwal said that SIP is also approached by various organizations as an opportunity to assess the talents of the students. It also enables the students to prove their caliber and get Pre-placement Offers (PPOs) after completing the summer internship. Around 150 PPOs are made every year to the students of IIM Bangalore on completing their internships.
Final Placements for the PGP batch of 2015-17 will begin soon after the SIP interviews will be concluded.
