After postponing the JEE Advanced 2021 exam from the previously scheduled date of 03rd July, the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (IITK) is expected to conduct the exam in September. IIT Kharagpur decided to postpone the JEE Advanced 2021 exam given the prevalent COVID-19 situation in the country. In the midst of the looming uncertainty about the holding of the remaining phases of JEE Main 2021 exam, a three-member committee decided to postpone the JEE Advanced process.
Although IIT Kharagpur authorities have stated that the revised schedule for this year's JEE Advanced test would be revealed soon on the institute's official website, nothing has been posted there as of yet. But, many pundits are already speculating a "first week of September” date because the remaining phases of the JEE Main 2021 exam are expected to be conducted between July and August which leaves the first week of August for the IITK officials to conduct the exam.
It is for the second time in two years that the JEE Advanced exam has been pushed back since the COVID-19 pandemic hit India in 2020. Last year, JEE Advanced was conducted on the 27th of September after the JEE Main was conducted between 01st and 06th September 2020.
Officials expect the COVID-19 pandemic's second surge to subside by mid-June, and if the final phase of the JEE Main 2021 exam is successfully conducted by the second week of August, they may be able to conduct the JEE Advanced 2021 exam by the first week of September assuming they don't need more than three weeks to prepare.
