JNTU-H to Introduce New-Age Tech Subjects

The Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University-Hyderabad (JNTU-H) will be introducing subjects such as Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, Block Chain and Data Analytics as a part of its engineering courses from the next academic year.

The engineering students at Jawaharlal Nehru Technical University (JNTU-H) will get to learn all about the new-age technology as subjects like Block Chain, Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, Data Analytics are being included in the curriculum of its engineering courses.

The university has decided to incorporate certain new-age technological courses in its computer science and electrical engineering courses from the next year onwards. The third-year students who are already in their second semester will be able to opt for these courses via Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs).

These courses will help the students enhance their skills and get accustomed to new technological advances, which will help them work in the industry and find better employment prospects. From the third to the fourth year, the students are required to choose three electives.

JNTU has introduced MOOCs for students who are in the third year of all its constituent and affiliated colleges. This process was implemented with the help of MHRD's Study of Web Active- Learning for Young Aspiring Minds (SWAYAM) programme. The online courses are being taught by the faculty of the reputed IITs, IIMs, and other Centrally Funded institutions.

The students will be taught courses on embedded systems and data science, VLSI for nominal charges. Certificates will be given to the students who will successfully complete the training by JNTU-H and Centre of Development of Computing (C-DAC).

To enhance the quality of engineering education, the JNTU-H has also made Faculty Development Programmes (FDP) mandatory. It will be a mandate for the faculty members to get trained in at least one FDP in the area of their teaching in a year. Earlier, the emphasis was on the infrastructure improvement in the engineering colleges and now the focus is on the quality of education.
