The next edition of the Programme for International Students Assessment (PISA) is due to be conducted in the year 2021. For the purpose, the MHRD has developed a website to guide the students on the functioning of PISA. Chandigarh has been selected to represent India in the assessment.
In a bid to build a better and far developed world in the future, the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) will be held two years from now. The city of Chandigarh has been selected as the representative for India in the assessment. The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has built a website for the purpose of making school students from the Union Territory and the state understand the functioning of PISA.
MHRD developed website will be providing the students with videos, sample papers as well as teacher’s handbook along with all the material that will help them successfully clear the assessment. Sources state that the assessment has been scheduled to be held in between the months of April and May in 2021. They further added that a trial run will be conducted a year prior to the actual assessment.
As stated by the MHRD on the website, PIA has been designed to guide and help the students learn the ability to critically, creatively and collaboratively think about different challenges to come up with a solution. The initiative will further help Indian students to be ready for the Global Market.
The website also stated that the overall growth of an individual in a country along with the competitiveness of the country depends on the situation of other countries. Furthermore, it is important to know where the country stands in respective of the other countries as the success of a country merely cannot be calculated based on their success at a national level.

To come out successful at the global level, it is important to not only know the answer but to also be able to creatively, critically and collaboratively think so as to devise the best possible solution.

This is where the Programme for International Students Assessment comes in handy. Through the programme, the countries will be able to understand how the students of their country are able to apply their knowledge in different real-life situations. PISA is an international survey that is conducted every three years. For the survey, 15-year-olds are tested on their ability to correctly apply the skills and knowledge gained in their schooling. During the survey, the students are checked on three different areas, viz. Mathematics, Reading and Science. PISA was introduced in the year 2000, wherein over 90 countries have participated in the survey.
