Mumbai University Sets Guidelines for First and Second Year Examinations

New rules have been established to make sure that the quality of the first year and the second year exams of the colleges of Mumbai University (MU) is not compromised. Colleges will be required to seek approval from the Mumbai University regarding the pattern of question papers, syllabus, allotment of marks, time table, duration of exams, etc.

According to the new examination guidelines, colleges are also supposed to send a copy of the question papers to the university for getting it scrutinized. The management and academic councils of the Mumbai University have cleared the guidelines that will be governing the conduct of these first and second exams at the college level next year onwards.

A management council member said that all affiliated colleges, except the autonomous colleges, are going to be divided into clusters of 10 each on the basis of their geographical area. In each cluster, one college that will preferably be NAAC accredited will be assigned as the lead college for a duration of five years. The principal of the lead college will be the cluster head and will act as the link between the university and the colleges.
