Vice President of India Venkaiah Naidu stressed on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of "Reform, Perform and Transform" in the field of Higher Education. Innovative teaching methods are essential for the development of the nation, he said.
Vice President of India, Shri Venkaiah Naidu has stressed the need to incorporate innovative teaching practices and Public-Private Partnership (PPP) for promoting quality education in India. While addressing an event at the launch of EPSI’s B-School Leadership Conclave in New Delhi on 27th February 2019, the Vice President said that the focus should be on shifting towards more innovative teaching methods where Artificial Intelligence would play a major role.
The Vice President feels that even with the advent of technology in Indian education model, around 20% of the rural Indian population are still uneducated. Keeping in mind that India is expected to be a major contributor to Asia’s development in the coming years, illiteracy is the major challenge that lies ahead of it, he expressed.
Naidu also asserted that India is confident of becoming the third largest economy in the world, and there is a good score for a business to flourish. As a result, employment opportunities will increase, wealth and the country’s GDP will grow exponentially, he added.
Praising the roles of leading B-Schools like Narsee Monjee, XLRI, BIMTECH etc, Naidu emphasised on adopting successful business models as case studies. Through this initiative, B-Schools will not only impart morals and strong business ethics in their students but also change the Indian perspective towards business, he opined.
Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) Founder & Chancellor Dr. G Viswanathan suggested that “Free Education for All” is the key for a developing country like India. European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) Director & CEO Professor Eric Cornuel feels concerned with the rise of economic inequalities and rapidly shrinking middle class. These challenges can be solved with a major shift from traditional to innovative education that will make the youth employable.

Several other renowned dignitaries like Chairman of Gokula Education Foundation- Dr M R Jayaram and Alternate President, Dr H Chaturvedi of Education Promotion Society for India (EPSI) were also present during the inaugural session of B-School leadership Conclave.

The theme of the conclave is “ Business Education 4.0- Futurizing Indian Business Schools” which will continue till February 28. The Conclave will also discuss planning and regulating policies for visionary B-Schools in India.
