Will CLAT 2021 be Conducted Online?

Are you scratching your head wondering if CLAT 2021 will be held through an online mode or not? If yes, you are at the right place. Find more details about CLAT 2021 exam mode here.

Will CLAT 2021 be Conducted Online?

Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic in the nation, CLAT 2020 was postponed numerous times. This scenario has pushed ahead the yearly exam schedule which has also resulted in some uncertainty regarding CLAT 2021. Will CLAT 2021 be Delayed? Will CLAT 2021 be Conducted Online? are two major doubts that CollegeDekho has addressed in order to provide clarity to the applicants preparing for CLAT 2021.

CLAT is a national level entrance exam of law that is usually held through an offline mode. Due to COVID-19, the Consortium of NLUs had decided to conduct the exam via online computer-based, centre based mode in 2020. The exam committee came to the conclusion considering the logistics involved, be it limited exam centres or handling of question papers or answer scripts which was difficult in view of the coronavirus.

Not much has changed since then as social distancing is still the need of the hour. The large scale movement of applicants to limited CLAT exam centres is not an ideal way to arrest the spread of coronavirus which rules out the chances of an offline exam for CLAT 2021. Additionally, since an on-line test at home does not ensure fairness and transparency, it is also not an option for the year 2021.

Considering the above, there are chances that CLAT 2021 will also be held in online computer-based, centre based mode just like CLAT 2020. The exam date of CLAT 2021 has been released and it is scheduled for June 13, 2021. As per the conditions at present, it is highly unlikely that there will be any relief regarding the coronavirus pandemic by then. All the public health safety and physical distancing measures are expected to be followed to avoid the spread of COVID-19. Applicants will be required to carry gloves, masks, personal hand sanitisers to the venue and will be expected to be familiar with the usage of computers.
