Amitian Won at International Competition

A team of 12 students from Amity International School, Noida won the prestigious Twentieth Annual International Space Settlement Design Competition, 2015 held from August 2-4, 2015 at NASA Kennedy Space Center in Florida, USA.


Team Amity comprised of 12 students -Dhruv Khanna, Aabhas Vaish, Aman Agarwal, Anuj Harisinghani, Rishab Srivastava, Chittaranjan Prasad, Suchit Jain, Rahul Rajput, Tanay Asija, Anant Chaturvedi, Grishma Purewal from Class XI and Mudit Gupta from Class X.

The final round of Twentieth Annual International Space Settlement Design Competition 2015 witnessed the participation of 4 Companies with 50 participants each, competing for the title from all over the world. Amity International School was in a company named “Vulture Aviation” and was clubbed with other teams from Latin American, North American and two selected team finalists from UK and USA.


During the Competition, Amity Team designed 2 main settlements and 4 outlying settlements to accommodate a population of 24,000 as well as a transient of 3000 more on Mars using a transparent material ‘Aluminum Oxinitride’.

Presenting a brief about the project, Student Aabhaas Vaish said that the Mars Space Settlement was named as Argonom Bult and proposed to be designed inside a crater. He further added that the selection of location for settling of Mars colony depended on the quality of soil and low amount of dust storm in that particular area.

Master Aabhaas highlighted various other important aspects of their project. He mentioned that the total cost for settlement of colony for 24,000 habitants was proposed to be 1,225,571,360,000 Dollars.

International Space Settlement Design Competition is a very prestigious International Competition which aims to impart industrial skills in students. The Competition puts high school students in the shoes of Aerospace Industry Engineers.
Lauding the historical achievement of the students, Dr. Amita Chauhan- Chairperson, Amity International Schools said that the noble soul Hon’ble Abdul Kalam ji may have left this world but the spark of Science and Technology he had ignited in the hearts of young students during his lifetime, is alive and will continue to motivate the young brains for ages.
