• India ranked 7 in World’s Oldest Countries List: World Population Survey (WPS) has released the list of 10 oldest countries in the world. Iran topped the list with its oldest civilisation dating back to 3200 BC. India was placed in 7th place on this list.

• Foreign Minister’s Visit to the Maldives concluded: The 3-day meeting of the External Affairs Minister with the foreign officials of Maldives has concluded. The aim of this meeting was to increase cooperation in all fields as per the SAGAR initiative of the Indian government.

• World Economic Forum Annual Meet in Davos: The 53rd Annual summit of the leading international economic organisation, the World Economic Forum was concluded in Davos Switzerland on 20th January 2023. The theme of this summit was ‘Cooperation in a Fragmented World’.

National News 24th January 2023

• 23 Tableaus to be displayed on the Republic Day Parade: The union defence ministry released the number of tableaus to be displayed on the republic day parade on 26th January to be 23. A total of 15 tableaus will be from various states/UTs and the rest from other government departments and campaigns

• Phonepe to Become Decacorn: By raising a whopping 350 million dollars from General Atlantic, Phonepe joined the Decacorn club of companies in India as its valuation has crossed over 12 billion now.

• Mamani Festival Held in Ladakh: The annual folk festival of the newly formed Union Territory Ladakh, the Mamani Ethnic Festival was observed in Kargil District. This celebration was held on 22nd January 2023.

• 3rd ODI of India Vs New Zealand Today: The third and last one-day international match of the ODI series against New Zealand will be commencing today at Holkar Stadium Indore from 1:30 PM. India will aim to win the series by a straight 3-0 clean sweep.

• Rybakina Enters Australian Open Semi-Finals: Kazakhistan’s star tennis player Elena Rybakina won the quarter-finals against Iga Swiatek of Australian Open 2023 and will now face two-times Melbourne Park champion Victoria Azarenka in the semis.
