The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) urged the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) to extend the time to apply to Ph.D admission which came after the requests made the students of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Ministry had also notified that few institutes like IIT Tirupati and IIT Dharwad have already made the required changes in the details on their respective websites. It had received a number of requests for the extension of date from the candidates of the region.
The MHRD had informed in a statement that many students from the Jammu and Kashmir have sent in requests to consider the extension of the date as they aren’t able to apply due to unavailability of internet connection in the region. All the IITs in the country have been thereby asked to act upon the same.
Candidates from Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh who are willing to apply to IIT Dharwad and IIT Tirupati may do so as the dates have already been extended.
According to the latest release, the Ministry of Human Resource Development stated that IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay, IIT Palakkad and IIT Bhilai have also extended the application dates for Ph.D for the students from Jammu and Kashmir.
The state’s Lieutenant Governor GC Murmu said on Wednesday that internet connectivity will be restored in Kashmir once the situation gets better. Internet was curbed in the valley when the special status of the region or Article 370 of the Indian Constitution was revoked in August this year.
