A Dance Ballet on Female Feticide

Eminent kathak dancer Rekha Mehra is resolved to send deep message and spread awareness among the masses through a dance ballet on “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” while highlighting Female feticide, female infanticide, child marriage, dowry deaths and other social stigma on so called modern India.

As her Urvashi Dance Theater is to embark on its 25year with a dedicated group of committed artists that are devoted to make this year’s show a success on a burning social issue. It is Urvashi’s goal this year to have a large amount of people participate and watch the show on the same initiative Beti Bachao Beti Padhao from all areas of Society.

"Urvashi"a dance cultural society that associates itself with social issues of profound impact, embarking on a meaningful, effective and comprehensive public awareness event to help social cause programs. Urvashi Society runs under the leadership of Dr. Rekha Mehra who is in empanelment with ICCR.
“Just as one of Modis goals is community service, it is also a main focus of Urvashi. The Dance School is honored to do charitable services by working with dancers from local schools, students from low-income areas in and around Delhi. This not only works toward our goal of empowering girls and women but also to instill cultural awareness, to interact with its surrounding communities, and most of all, dance as a communicative art form. In an age where arts especially dance education ignored it is vital that members of the community understand the importance of dance as a medium of spreading the message. The society has in the past years staged awareness programs like Nidan on HIV/AIDS, Ladli, Global Warming, Nari Shakti, Atal Shanti Ki Khoj Mein, Kargil Martyrs, War& Peace, Tu Kaise Maa, Dhani Chunariya, which was also highly appreciated by eminent personalities, Guests, Public & Press,” said Rekha Mehra.
“This year our Dance Society is organizing a dance ballet on (On Woman Empowerment); Kanya Bhrun Hatya (female feticide), which is selectively eliminating the fetus of a girl in the womb itself. Urvashi dance school has spent several years researching this cause throughout Rajasthan, Delhi and Haryana and have worked hard towards the same concept of “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao,” she added further.
“Here is Urvashi’s a FD Certificate of Rs. 5000/-will be given to the children of low income group for this upliftment and a sort of security for this future.I cannot stress to you enough what an exciting, yet very ambitious project we are undertaking .As is evident that female feticide is a burning global issue so it would we a grate privilege for me to highlight and awaken people through a Dance about saving the Girl Child.
