Telangana Govt. Announces Cash Incentives for Students Qualifying to IITs and NITs

Telangana Govt. Announces Cash Incentives for Students Qualifying to IITs and NITs

Scheduled Caste Welfare Minister, Mr. G Jagadeesh Reddy announced that the state government of Telangana would provide cash incentives to the students of social welfare residential educational institutes if they qualify for the admission to National Institutes of Technology (NITs) and Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). On December 27, 2017, the Minister distributed Laptops to 24 students of social welfare residential educational institutes who bagged admission in IITs and NITs for the academic session 2017-18.

Giving details about the cash incentive scheme, Mr. Jagadeesh Reddy revealed that the government would grant Rs. 40,000 cash incentive to students who secure admission in NITs, and Rs. 50,000 for the students who secure admission in IITs. The government has been aiming to ensure that no poor student is deprived of pursuing higher studies, he highlighted.

Several students from the government residential educational institutes across the state fared well in national level and state-level entrance exams for the admission to premier institutes and other reputed institutes across the country. Recently, the state government established new residential schools and degree colleges to provide quality education, specifically to the economically weaker sections.

Addressing the students after distributing Laptops, Mr. Jagadeesh Reddy urged the students to become role models for others in their respective villages. Telangana is the first state in the country to set up residential degree colleges for women. Apart from providing quality education, the state government is providing nutritious food to the students in social welfare residential educational institutions, he highlighted.
