In 2011, SunRise University (SRU) emerged on the educational landscape, establishing itself as a multi-facility private university across a vast 35-acre campus at the "Tiger Gate" of Rajasthan. SRU takes pride in producing successful graduates across various fields and providing well-built infrastructure facilities and exposure. Recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC), Sunrise University is also approved by various national and state-level councils such as AICTE, BCI and PCI.

Moreover, SunRise University has blossomed into a vibrant academic hub, offering students a diverse range of courses at undergraduate, postgraduate, certificate, diploma, dual-degree, doctoral and postdoctoral levels catering to a diverse spectrum of academic interests. From arts, science, commerce, and engineering to law, applied science, medicine, mass media, and computer science, the university's academic offerings are indeed encompassing. 

However, controversies regarding the approvals for certain courses, the release of fake degrees and fraud administration have raised doubts among prospective students. It is crucial to conduct a thorough evaluation of SunRise University before embarking on the academic journey. This article aims to provide an unbiased assessment of Sunrise University, shedding light on its controversies, academic offerings, infrastructure, internship and placement opportunities, faculty, administration, and location in detail. 

SunRise University (SRU) Ranking: Not so good!

SunRise University was ranked by IIRF which stands for Indian Institutional Ranking Framework. It is an independent agency ranking institutions of higher education. Let’s look at the SRU rankings for the last two years below. 

Our Take:

We can see a drop of 19 positions in SRU 2023 rankings from the previous year. However, the number of participating institutions also rose by 10, decreasing the drop by the same positions. Even after that declining rankings aren’t a good sign for the university!

The university offers a buffet of programmes in almost every discipline. Here is a brief list of diverse courses offered by SunRise University. 

This was all about the departments and courses of Sunrise University, Now let's talk about the issue related to that. As per our research on multiple online platforms such as Quora, YouTube and news websites, we found students full of doubts regarding the recognition and approvals of the courses offered by Sunrise University. What's the reason behind this? Well, Sunrise University was once blacklisted due to offering paramedical courses without the approval of any national or state-level agency. This incident caused an alarming situation for the university about its reputation and filled students' minds with doubts. 

Our Take:

We researched the website of the university and found out that the courses offered at Sunrise University are now approved by official agencies such as the Bar Council of India, Pharmacy Council of India, Rehabilitation Council of India, DOA Rajasthan, Central Council for Research in Yoga and Naturopathy, Rajasthan Paramedical Council; Clinical Establishment Certificate and AICTE.  

Moreover, the university took strong actions against the management and corruption held earlier and got all its courses approved. Even if the students have doubts in their minds, they should visit the university and get proper information regarding the approval of any course they are applying for. 

SunRise University (SRU) Infrastructure

Lab Facility: SRU claims to provide hi-tech lab facilities in different departments. The laboratories are equipped with adequate equipment and air conditioning. 

Library: The university has a well-furnished library on campus but the stock of books and other facilities could be improved as per students’ reviews. 

Internet: Internet facilities are available on the SRU campus and students have access to free Wi-Fi facilities across the campus. 

Hostel: On-campus hostel facilities are available at Sunrise University for male and female students. The students can choose amongst general rooms, deluxe rooms and deluxe air-conditioned rooms as per their requirements. Students seem satisfied with the hostel and mess facilities of SRU. 

Transportation: SRU provides bus facilities to day scholars within the range of 50 km from Alwar which is helpful to students. 

Activities: The university conducts several events such as freshers, sports competitions and extracurricular activities according to the student’s feedback. 

Cafeteria: As per the university’s brochure, there is a cafeteria on the campus providing various food items and snacks. 

Our Take:

While SunRise University's infrastructure meets basic needs, there are areas for improvement based on student feedback. Additional investments in library resources could enhance the learning experience. Offering diverse transportation options beyond a 50 km radius would benefit more students.

SunRise University (SRU) Internships and Placements 

Internships: 

Based on multiple sources, student feedback and reviews revealed a mixed bag of perspectives regarding internship opportunities at Sunrise University. Some students confirmed that the university offers internships while others firmly denied such opportunities. On top of that, the university’s website and brochure don’t have any information regarding internships offered. 

Placements: 

Sunrise University has confirmed in its brochure that it offers ample placement opportunities to its students. However, it hasn’t published any placement report or statistics clarifying its claims. One can only look at the long list of recruiters mentioned in the brochure. 

According to the students’ feedback, many pool campus drives along with other universities are held along with on-campus placements. Students are exposed to opportunities in leading companies and MNCs. The average package offered at SRU ranges between INR 3-6 LPA. 

Our Take:

The unavailability of the latest internship and placement reports has developed scepticism around the opportunities offered by SunRise University. No information like placement rate, average package, maximum package, or number of companies visited is available on the website. It is quite a bummer for prospective students! Also, it is unclear from the reviews of students whether they are satisfied with the opportunities or not. The university should look into this area. 

SunRise University (SRU) Diversity & Demographics 

Any information regarding the demographics and gender ratio of Sunrise University can’t be derived from reliable sources such as the university’s website, annual reports or notices. However, as per an online source, the gender ratio of SRU stands at 85%:15% representing fewer females compared to male students. The data found appears to be unreliable! 

Our Take:

Once again the unavailability of authentic information has created a doubtful image of SRU. The university should release public information regarding the diversity and gender representation on the campus to avoid any misconceptions. 

SunRise University (SRU) Faculty/College Administration & Management

According to the students’ feedback, the faculty of Sunrise University is a mixed bag! While the majority of teachers are qualified and supportive, few were found to be inexperienced. Overall, the faculty can be considered good but not the administration and management. 

Sunrise University has been in the headlines for various incidents related to corruption, fake degrees and lack of approval. SRU came into the limelight for releasing fake degrees to students for money and enrolling students in certain courses without proper approvals. Not only this, but a case of money laundering by the owner of SRU lit the controversy! After all this, the university was completely handed over to new management to save it from defamation. 

Our Take:

The administration of SunRise University took immediate actions such as throwing out the old management after the controversy and applying for proper approvals to run the courses. Now, the university seems to be running efficiently. However, the intent of the administration and management isn’t crystal clear yet! 

SunRise University (SRU) Location

The SunRise University is located at Bagar Rajput, Alwar, Rajasthan. The university is well-connected via roads. However, the lack of public transportation is an issue experienced by the students. To counter this problem, the university has a bus facility in limited areas. 

SunRise University (SRU): Expectation vs Reality CLD Verdict!

SunRise University (SRU) has its strengths and weaknesses. On one hand, its expansive academic offering, well-equipped infrastructure and supportive faculty are commendable. On the other hand, concerns regarding course approvals, internship clarity, placement transparency, diversity data and past administrative issues raise questions about the university’s overall effectiveness. 

While the university maintains that all courses are now duly approved and its image is clean, students need to exercise caution and verify the authenticity of these claims. Students are strongly advised to visit the campus and consult current students before making a decision.
