The MBBS entrance examination of Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research concluded on June 4, 2017, at 339 test centres across the country. The entrance examination is popularly known as JIPMER MBBS 2017. According to sources, JIPMER will declare the list of qualified candidates on or before June 19, 2017. The score/ percentile secured by the candidates will be made available on the official website of JIPMER. The institute conducts separate entrance examination for the admission to medical courses.
On June 4, 2017, JIPMER MBBS 2017 entrance examination took place in two shifts. The morning session of medical entrance exams commenced at 10:00 AM and continued until 12:30 PM. Similarly, the afternoon session of the examination commenced at 3:00 PM and continued until 5:30 PM.

This year, around 1,89,663 candidates registered for the JIPMER MBBS 2017 entrance examination. With an objective to facilitate maximum participation from students, the institute conducted the examination in 75 cities.
The candidates who took the JIPMER MBBS 2017 entrance examination are competing for 200 MBBS seats. Out of these 200 seats, 150 seats are available at JIPMER Pondicherry campus and 50 seats are available at JIPMER Karaikal campus.

The examination took place in an online mode with all the questions being MCQ based from Biology, Physics and Chemistry of Class 12 syllabus. The examination also had English comprehension, quantitative and logical reasoning sections.
The first phase of counselling for the admission to MBBS course at JIPMER is expected to commence from June 27, 2017.
