AIIMS Jodhpur Review and Verdict by CollegeDekho

Campus at a Glimpse

AIIMS Jodhpur carried out its first academic session in 2013 with 50 MBBS students. It is one of the six younger AIIMS in the country and started its operation in 2012. Infrastructure-wise, the institute has all the necessary requisites, like classrooms, laboratories, a library, a hostel, sports facilities, and numerous others. Currently, the institute has 124 MBBS and 88 nursing students with a female-to-male ratio of 48:52.

Course-wise, AIIMS Jodhpur has a total of 40 courses offering 8 degrees. Admissions are done through entrance exams and counselling. Established by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (GOI) under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojna (PMSSY), the course fee charged by AIIMS Jodhpur is reasonable, as claimed by students.

AIIMS Jodhpur, undoubtedly, is one of the top choices among students. Yet, students have raised concerns about the news that is circulating regarding the student's mental stress, which has led to unacceptable circumstances. Apart from that, students have not raised much concern about the institute and are looking forward to being a part of AIIMS.

Our Take:

The comments from students were intermixed and varied regarding the AIIMS Jodhpur faculty.

  • A PG student says the faculty count is less than the sanctioned intake. He further added that even though the faculty-to-student ratio stands favourable, there is a need for more faculty members not only in AIIMS Jodhpur but also on other AIIMS campuses as well.
  • Many students also claimed that the faculty members are good and sharp in knowledge and professionalism.
  • However, a student on an online platform shared a few incidents where students were met with an unfortunate fate due to pressure from the faculty, emphasising the term ‘Rote Learning’. Here are a few newspaper snippets that stand as a testament to the same.

Administration-wise, students have voiced that they have their functioning is smooth compared to other AIIMS. Although there have been a few discrepancies that are common in all institutes and nothing specific to complain about, they further added.

AIIMS Jodhpur Location

AIIMS Jodhpur is nestled in Basni Industrial Area Phase-2 in Rajasthan. The institute is located at a distance of 8.8 km from Jodhpur airport and 8 km from the nearest railway station.

Climate-wise, the temperature ranges between 42°C-37°C in summer and 28°C-15°C in winter with a precipitation level of 31 cm.

Our Take:

Students have voiced that the institute’s location is favourable with good commute options and well-connected by road, rail and airport. However, the weather conditions are a bit harsh during the summer season, which the students have also asserted. The classes and hostels are equipped with a well-ventilated system saving the students from the scorching heat. Jodhpur has an average literacy rate of 67% which is higher than the national average of 59.5%. Thus, it can be said that Jodhpur is a city perfect for students.

AIIMS Jodhpur Expectation vs Reality- CollegeDekho Verdict

In simple terms, AIIMS Jodhpur seems to be the student's favourite. Academic-wise, students have voiced that the curriculum is the best and the infrastructure facilities are good, except for the library which they think needs an upgrade. Along with that, casualty also needs a boost in terms of facilities available. In terms of faculty, they said that the quality of teaching is up to the mark whereas the faculty count is usually less than the sanctioned intake of 300. Few students have demanded that the institute should solve the pending cases of the students who met with an unacceptable fate, at the earliest. A few such cases were also directed towards strict faculty imposing ‘rote learning’ on students. Whatever may be the case, this is the one issue that AIIMS Jodhpur must come out clean at the earliest!

Hello Mallikarjun,

To secure admission at AIIMS Delhi, you have to take the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test  (NEET) exam and secure a valid rank. The minimum percentile required for admission to the institute for SC category candidates is 40 percentile. The minimum marks required is 136-107 for SC category candidates.

Hope this was helpful. Feel free to ask for any more queries.
