Our Take:
Campus placements at VIT Vellore is really good and one of the most significant reasons behind the image of VIT Vellore. But it really depends on the branch chosen by the students. The CSE branch is considered to be the best when we talk about placement. The placement record for CSE IT and ESE is very impressive and most of the students from these disciplines are placed at great/ fancy packages. For students belong to other branches, one has to be really good at academics else it can be a daunting task to crack an offer through campus placements. There are very less core mechanical and civil companies that visit VIT and the others who visit do not offer a good package. Students with CGPA above 8/9 are given preference during the placement process.
VIT Vellore Diversity and Demographics
VIT Vellore is known for its diverse student population. It attracts students not only from all over India, but also from foreign nations such as Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, UAE, etc. thus fostering a batch from different cultures, linguistic backgrounds, etc. leading to a globalized learning atmosphere. With this, communication barrier at VIT is a common problem that the students face. The employees at VIT often forget that not all people are well-versed in Tamil. As per the feedback available, students who come from North India feel out of place in the initial days of the college, but it eventually gets better.
VIT Vellore Student Diversification

---|---|---|---|---|---|
UG (4 yrs) | 26357 | 6756 | 6740 | 25101 | 1290 |

VIT Vellore has made efforts to maintain a balanced gender ratio among its students. While engineering and technology programs often have more male students, the university encourages female enrollment and has seen an increase in female students in recent years.
The university celebrates cultural diversity through various events and activities. Cultural festivals, international food fairs, and student clubs and organizations promote cultural exchange and understanding among students. English is the primary medium of instruction, but students often converse in multiple languages, creating a multilingual campus environment.
Our Take:
The gender diversity or gender ratio at VIT Vellore is unbalanced because of the nature of the courses that VIT offers. Male students are more inclined towards pursuing engineering courses as compared to female students. Apart from that, they have a complete diversity of students from all across the globe. There are a lot of communication issues that the students complain about. Tamil is the most prominent language that the employees and faculty prefer to speak. VIT Vellore must make a point to make students from other parts of India comfortable during the initial days of their higher education journey at the campus.
VIT Vellore Faculty/ Management/ Administration
As per its official website, VIT maintains a faculty-student ratio of 1:19.11, with 78.3% of faculty holding Ph.D. qualifications and an average faculty experience of 7.65 years. Many claim that VIT Vellore has a student force of more than 30,000 students with roughly 400 to 500 teachers/ faculty members to handle them, i.e 1:60 ratio, being far from ideal. To top it, students have mentioned in their reviews that although most faculty members at VIT Vellore are well learned, but there are some who possess limited experience ultimately making it difficult for students to handle the academic pressure for certain subjects.
The management at VIT Vellore is good in many aspects but sometimes they are rude and non-cooperative while solving the problem of the students. Within each college or school, there are various departments corresponding to different academic disciplines. Each department is typically headed by a Department Chair or Head who manages the department's academic programs, faculty, and research activities. The university typically has a Student Affairs division that oversees student services, extracurricular activities, and student support services. This division is responsible for the overall well-being of students.
Our Take:
The faculty members at VIT are biased as per the students' feedback. There are only few experienced and well-trained teachers. Moreover, they prefer communicating in the local language that is unfair on students from other parts of the country. It is also claimed that the management of VIT is not very cooperative with the issues raised by the students. They are laid back in taking initiative if any concern is highlighted by the students.
