Established in 2018, Apex University is an emerging private university located in the pink city of Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. It is situated on a sprawling campus of 30 acres with well-designed infrastructure. It is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and approved by various councils. Apex University offers a wide range of courses under its umbrella. Diploma (after 10th and 12th), undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes in diverse disciplines such as arts, commerce, engineering, science, pharmacy, design, nursing, law, and allied health sciences are offered. Apex University Courses are approved by distinguished councils such as AICTE, BCI, and PCI. 

The fee structure at Apex University is affordable. One can pursue a BTech programme under INR 5,00,000 and an MBA under INR 3,00,000. Fees for other popular courses like BCom is INR 35,000 per annum, LLB is INR 50,000 per annum, and BPharm is INR 1,00,000 per annum. Students are satisfied with the fees, and the university offers scholarships as well. However, the placement rate is just proportionate to the fees, which is a big concern for the students. The average placement package at Apex University is INR 2-4 LPA, which is as low as the fee structure. 

Apex University boasts about receiving 5.9 lakh applications for admission through CUET 2023, the largest in Rajasthan. Bragging about the number of applications received is one of a kind! It also claims to admit 2,500 students in the academic year 2023 from across 28 states in India. However, the popularity of the university is meagre outside Rajasthan, as per data found in an official report. There is a mixed opinion about Apex University as per the student's feedback and data received. So, let’s delve into details to have a comprehensive understanding of Apex University.

Apex University Ranking

In terms of ranking, Apex University stands nowhere. There's only data that could be found for the year 2020. Apex University was ranked 1st among the emerging universities in Rajasthan by Forbes in 2020.

Only one ranking in the emerging category is available. Either any major ranking agency has not ranked Apex University or it didn’t participate in any ranking assessment. It means students can’t evaluate or assess the performance of Apex University based on various criteria used by the ranking agencies. 

Apex University Academia & Batch Size

Apex University follows a ‘Choice-Based Credit System’ (CBCS), including theory and practical classes, tutorials, projects and assignments, and other co-curricular activities. Internal and external assessments are done per semester. 

According to the student reviews, the curriculum at Apex University is updated and relevant, and the difficulty level of semester-end examinations is moderate. Also, the university organises seminars, workshops, and other events for the students. However, some students are not happy with the curriculum and faculty. As per them, personality development activities are not conducted at the university, and the faculty keeps changing every year. 

Based on a report submitted to UGC, the sanctioned intake at Apex University was 6,138, while the actual enrollment was 5,083 (year of available data not mentioned). The university has welcomed 2,500 new students for the academic year 2023–24, as per the news, which is justified. 

Our Take: 

Forming an opinion on the sanctioned batch size vs. the actual batch size is difficult as the year of data available in the report is unknown. However, taking the sanctioned intake as a base, admitting 2,500 students in 2023 is justified. While students seem satisfied with academia, there is a need for improvement in other aspects such as teaching, curriculum, etc. A check on the frequent turnover of the faculty and the inclusion of more personality development activities could help students in a better way. 

Apex University Infrastructure

Classroom:

The classrooms at Apex University are spacious and well-equipped. There are several smart classrooms as well. 

Auditorium/ Labs:

The university has an auditorium laced with multimedia equipment and laboratories for different departments. However, deficiencies in equipment have been reported by some students. 

Library:

The Apex Central Library has a vast collection of learning resources and is equipped with modern facilities. As per students, the library has a reading hall and quiet study areas. Moreover, the library has a smart library management system and provides electronic access to learning materials. 

Internet:

Students have access to free wireless internet on campus. 

Hostel:

Hostel facilities for male and female students are available. As per students, the hostel facility at Apex University is average. Rooms with basic amenities are available for 1 to 4 boarders. 

Activities:

An annual event called ‘Techno Agaaz’ is conducted by the university apart from regular activities as per students.  

Cafe/ Hang-out:

Apex University has a canteen, which provides hot and hygienic food. Nearby hangout places include temples, shopping malls, and restaurants.

The research on multiple review platforms reveals that the infrastructure at Apex University is decent. The campus is spacious and provides adequate facilities to students. However, a few improvements in laboratory and hostel facilities can be made to provide advanced facilities to the students. 

Apex University Internships and Placements

Apex University has included internships in its curriculum. As per the student's feedback, the university does not invite companies for internships. The major concern raised by the students is that they have to manage the internship on their own.

Apex University has provided overall placement statistics in its brochure. Students should note that ‘no specific year’ is attached to the information provided by the university. Hence, year-wise data is not available for reference. Also, students have reported that placements at Apex University are nominal. The available placement statistics at Apex University do not point to any specific year. Looking at it as overall placement information might make some sense. However, the university itself forms a sceptical image by representing bizarre information. Based on students’ feedback, Apex University falls short in providing better placement opportunities and lacks support in facilitating internships. This highlights the university’s incapability in one of the major areas. 

Apex University Diversity & Demographics 

In 2023, Apex University admitted students from 28 different states of India, as per news. This represents inter-state diversity at the university. However, not much is known about the current intake of international students. As per an official report submitted to UGC by the university, no foreign students were admitted in the past (year not known).

Our Take: 

Based on the available report, a huge difference between the number of male and female students can be seen in UG and diploma courses. In UG programmes, the male-to-female student ratio is around 4:1. It shows a notable gender disparity and lack of interest in female students for higher education. Measures ensuring more female enrollment should be made by the university. 

Also, the number of students outside the state is minimal, and no foreign student was admitted. It represents the unpopularity of the university outside Rajasthan. The data is based on an official report, the accurate year of which is unknown. For more details, students must contact the university or alumni prior to admission. 

Apex University Faculty/College Administration & Management

As per the report submitted to UGC, Apex University has more than 200 faculty members. Based on this information, the overall faculty-to-student ratio is approximately 1:13. Based on the other report related to pharmacy courses at Apex University, the student-to-faculty ratio was 60:1 in class, which needs to be improved and taken care of. 

Students have mixed reviews related to faculty. Some of them found the teachers to be cooperative and well-educated. However, a few pointed out that the faculty is unprofessional and less experienced. The management conducts the examinations timely, every six months, as per the schedule. 

As per some social media sources, the administration and management appear to be nice. However, not much is known about the management and administration of Apex University. 

Our Take: 

While the overall faculty-to-student ratio is fine, one teacher for 50 to 60 pharmacy students doesn’t provide an ideal learning environment. While the university has a significant faculty base, it is crucial to maintain an ideal student-teacher ratio. Based on the student reviews, recruiting more professional and learned faculty and training existing faculty could benefit students. In conclusion, Apex University should be more transparent in providing details related to faculty, the student-faculty ratio, and information related to administration and management. 

Apex University Location

Apex University is located at Padmani VT Rd, Ward 27, Mansarovar Sector 5, Mansarovar, Jaipur, Rajasthan. The university is located in the hustle and bustle of the Mansarovar district. Apex University is just 4.3 km from Durgapur Railway Station. The airport is also just 7.6 km from the university. Apex University provides transport facilities from all over Jaipur. Apex Transport buses have Global Positioning System devices installed for route monitoring and surveillance, as well as for safe and secure transportation. 

Apex University: Expectation vs Reality CLD Verdict!

After a thorough analysis of Apex University, one can see the pros and cons. The most promising factor of the university is its affordable fee structure. However, the placement offered is too low. 

While the campus, infrastructure, facilities and curriculum are above average, the diversity, popularity outside the state, faculty expertise, student-faculty ratio, and transparency in providing correct information disappoint deeply. 

Striking a balance between pros and cons is a waste of time here. Students must weigh the parameters carefully to find the ROI and choose accordingly.
