Campus at a Glimpse
The Kathakali idol placed in front of the CUSAT campus exhibits the cultural importance this University imparts. The perfect blend of venerability with contemporaneity is what explains this University. Cochin University of Science and Technology, also known as CUSAT, is a public University that was established in 1971. It is termed a pioneer in the field of education introducing innovative curriculum and adopting global evaluation practices. Due to its overall quality and performance in terms of teaching, research, and infrastructure, CUSAT has been accredited by NAAC with an A+ grade.
CUSAT offers UG, PG, PGD, and PhD courses in various fields including Engineering, Humanities, Law, Science, Social Sciences, Marine Sciences, etc. Some of the popular courses offered by CUSAT include BTech, MBA, LLB, BSc, MTech, etc. The university has over 10,000 students enrolled in its various programs, and it has a faculty of over 500 PhD holders. This shows it has a decent faculty-to-student ratio of approximately 1:20.
However, as the saying goes “There's no such thing as a free lunch”. As per a news report, some violent attacks were reported at the CUSAT campus where some students were also seriously injured. This reflects badly on the security of the University where such violent acts can occur within the campus. The worst part of this was that the accused were not able to be identified because the cameras on the campus were apparently not working!
It is the prime responsibility of every institution to provide a safe environment for its students. Students have the right to feel safe and secure at least inside the campus, so that they can focus on their learning.

Our Take
The placement for CUSAT is decent with some very good companies visiting campus for placements. This shows that the University is concerned about the future of students and maintains good coordination with the companies for placement purposes. However, we feel that the University should focus on improving the average package offered to the students by making them more employable, conducting sessions aimed at just that.

CUSAT: Expectation vs Reality CollegeDekho Verdict
As per our evaluation, CUSAT is a prestigious university with a high reputation, and it is often seen as a dream school for many students. However, it is important to note that while it is considered as one of the prestigious universities down south, the placement data is a disappointing factor.
Also, CUSAT has a rigorous academic program, and students are expected to work hard but it is also fair and well-designed. It has a strong alumni network, and graduates are in high demand from top employers. However, CUSAT is located in a suburban area, and it can be difficult to get around on weekends.
