The 15-acre campus is filled with greenery, providing a calm setting for students. Established in 2007, DBS is known for its comprehensive education, 100% placement success, modern amenities, and lively campus atmosphere.

DBS, recognized as one of the top B-Schools by The Week, provides sought-after management degrees such as BBA, MBA, and PGDM. Specializations include marketing, HR, finance, international business, data analytics, and agri-business. Additionally, DBS offer diverse courses like B.Sc and M.Sc in Forestry, B.Com, BA and MA in Journalism and Mass Communication, and BCA. Our Take:

While Doon Business School excels in overall B-School rankings, its specialized programs like BBA and Mass Communication receive lower ratings than the MBA program, hinting at potential differences in program quality. The rankings indicate Doon Business School’s strong regional standing but suggest room for improvement in national competitiveness. The drop in national rank prompts questions about factors such as faculty composition, industry connections, or placement performance. Yet, DBS's consistent regional dominance highlights its strength in meeting local needs and providing a solid foundation in business education.

Our Take:

Positives:

  • Highly Regarded Faculty: Reviews emphasize the expertise and qualifications of certain professors, especially in areas like finance and marketing. Students value their industry insights and use of real-world examples.
  • Practical Curriculum: According to feedback, the curriculum incorporates recent industry trends and practical skills alongside theoretical knowledge. This is appreciated by students looking to acquire job-ready skills.
  • Effective Case Studies and Projects: Positive reviews highlight engaging case studies and projects that enable students to apply their learning and enhance critical thinking skills.

Negatives:

  • Teaching Quality Inconsistency: Reviews raise concerns about variations in teaching quality among faculty members. Students note instances of inexperienced or less engaging professors.
  • Lack of Interdisciplinary Approach: Some reviews point out a lack of cross-disciplinary opportunities and integration between different management fields. This might limit students' exposure to diverse perspectives.
  • Outdated Resources: Mentioned in reviews are outdated library resources and a lack of access to modern software or technology in certain labs. This could hinder students' research and industry readiness.

Overall, we believe that Doon Business School provides a distinctive learning setting with both positives and drawbacks. The small class size fosters close faculty interaction, yet it may restrict diversity and competition. The academic aspect features experienced faculty and industry-focused content, but there are lingering concerns about inconsistencies and outdated resources.

Our Take:

Doon Business School claims a 100% placement rate, which seems impressive. Reviews mention graduates landing jobs in diverse sectors, offering career flexibility in areas like marketing, finance, sales, and operations. While specific figures vary, some reviews note secure salary packages for graduates in reputable companies. However, some alumni question the claimed high average package accuracy, suggesting a broader range with a significant portion receiving lower salaries. Concerns arise about discrepancies between promised job profiles and actual responsibilities, with some graduates in roles not aligned with their skills or qualifications. Some reviews mention a lack of dedicated support for DBS placements in lesser-known companies or for struggling students.

Doon Business School Diversity & Demographics

Based on the NIRF 2022 report for 2-year PG courses, DBS Dehradun has the maximum number of students from outside the state. It shows the popularity of the college across India. The male-to-female ratio is satisfactory with 44% of females against 56% of male students. However, it lacks in offering global diversity with 0 international students.

Our Take:

According to various reviews and reports, there is a relatively equal number of male and female students at DBS, creating a more inclusive learning environment. This may appeal to students looking for a balanced atmosphere. Reviews mention students from different Indian states and international students, providing exposure to diverse perspectives and experiences, and enriching classroom discussions and cultural understanding. The institute seems to host events promoting inclusivity, signalling a commitment to a diverse and welcoming community.

However, concerns arise about limited representation from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, affecting social and academic accessibility. Some reviews express concerns about inadequate infrastructure and support for students with disabilities, indicating potential shortcomings in addressing accessibility needs. Additionally, there are limited initiatives for celebrating diverse cultures within the student body, hindering intercultural understanding.

While DBS shows progress in inclusivity with a balanced gender ratio and regional diversity, concerns about socioeconomic and disability inclusion, alongside limited cultural initiatives, suggest areas for improvement. Some students may desire a more diverse and accessible learning environment that values cultural exchange.

Doon Business School Location

Doon Business School (DBS) is situated in the beautiful foothills of the Himalayas, approximately 20 km from Dehradun city centre. This calm environment, surrounded by greenery and stunning mountain views, offers a peaceful break from city noise. The institute's address is M-122, Behind Pharma City, Selaqui, Dehradun, Uttarakhand, India 248011. It is well-connected by local roads, with the nearest bus stand (Bhatowali Bus Stand) 12 km away, and the closest railway station (Dehradun Railway Station) 23 km away. Jolly Grant Airport, around 53 km away, is the nearest airport. However, the remote location has both advantages and disadvantages, shaping unique student experiences.

Our Take:

Pros:

  • Many students appreciate the calm and pollution-free surroundings, praising the fresh air, scenic beauty, and quiet atmosphere that supports focused study. This serves as a welcome break from city distractions, contributing to mental well-being.
  • Being close to nature allows for outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, and exploring the Himalayan foothills. This encourages a healthy lifestyle and offers a pleasant escape from academic pressures.

Cons:

  • Getting to DBS can be difficult, especially for students unfamiliar with the area. Public transportation options may be scarce, and relying on private vehicles increases expenses. This can disrupt travel plans and create an initial sense of isolation.
  • While the campus provides essentials, students may miss the convenience of nearby shops, restaurants, and entertainment options found in the city. This might lead to feelings of boredom or a sense of restriction outside campus life.
  • The remote location may restrict students' opportunities for networking and internships with companies located in busy urban centres. This limitation could impact career prospects, especially for those seeking immediate industry experience.

Doon Business School: Expectation vs Reality CLD Verdict!

Located in the beautiful Himalayas, Doon Business School (DBS) offers a peaceful setting for learning, modern amenities, and a promising start to your career.  The website showcases diverse courses, a 100% placement rate, and a lively campus life. The infrastructure provides basic amenities, but concerns arise about outdated furniture and limited hang-out spaces. Doon Business School offers a unique environment with both strengths and weaknesses. The serene location and close-knit community appeal to some, while others may desire a more vibrant and accessible setting.

Final Verdict: This detailed verdict and review gives you a starting point, but personal research is very crucial.
