Located at the outskirts of Jaipur and spread over a huge area of more than 200 acres, Jagannath University Jaipur is often confused with being yet another archaeological site for the first-time visitors in the Pink City. The University has maintained well defined concrete structures but it lacks greenery to a large extent. Jagan Nath University is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956. Additionally, the university has been accredited by NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) with an "A" grade in 2022, which reflects its commitment to academic excellence. The university is a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), which is a significant recognition and affiliation within the Indian higher education landscape. Jagan Nath University has gained a distinctive status in Agriculture education. It has been accredited by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) for its B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture program, signifying the quality and relevance of its agricultural education offerings.

As per the data available on the official website and other credible sources, Jagannath University has a limited number of recognitions that are listed below: 

• JU Jaipur has been placed at 11th Position in Jaipur among 24 universities by EduRank 2023. 
• The Week has also recognised Jagannath Univeristy at the 9th, 23rd and 24th place for being a popular multidisciplinary university (ranking years are not available/ verified)
• As per India Today Rankings, Jagannath University, Jaipur MBA ranking is 196 out of 284 colleges in India in 2019.

Our Take: Despite being a popular pick amongst students for the variety of courses that it offers, Jagannath University has not been able to yet feature in the coveted NIRF Rankings released by the MHRD every year. As per the official website of Jagannath University Jaipur, the university had submitted/ participated in the NIRF rankings in 2020 and 2021, however, was unable to feature in the final rankings. This suggests that the University has a lot of scope for improvement in areas basis which NIRF rankings are determined. If the University focuses more on the teaching quality, availability of teachers, attrition rate, and placements for students, it can get some visibility on the NIRF rankings.

Our Take:

Although the academic structure is planned as per the latest guidelines of the NEP 2020, however, students often complain about the technical issues faced by them. The university claims to offer a choice-based credit system but students are offered limited choices. They are often forced to take whatever subjects can be offered by the management. As per students, the number of teachers is also less as compared to the number of programs that are offered on the campus. We believe academics is the basic thing students expect when they opt for education. The university must look into the quality of education and deliver everything they boast of!

Jagannath University Jaipur Infrastructure 

Classrooms: The classroom environment is thoughtfully designed to encourage dynamic and focused discussions. They have been crafted to blend analysis with action and are enriched with well-equipped amenities. Each classroom is Wi-Fi enabled equipped with internet connectivity, fostering a conducive learning environment. Moreover, multimedia and audio-visual equipment are incorporated to promote effective learning and maximize interaction between faculty and students. The utilization of smart classrooms, however, is not used completely by the faculties. Students often complain about slow internet speed. 

Laboratories: The university has well-equipped laboratories for each School of Studies, catering to both teaching and research purposes. These labs serve as valuable resources where students engage in problem-solving, conduct developmental experiments, and collaborate on faculty-guided projects. The experiments are carefully designed to deepen understanding of phenomena, facts, and equipment fabrication, offering students hands-on experience. To streamline the process, a microcomputer-based laboratory minimizes repetitive measurements and enables in-depth analysis and interpretation of acquired data. The lab facilities are sufficient and are used by students at ease. 

Hostels: Currently, the university features four separate hostels, accommodating both male and female students. Three of these hostels cater to male students, with a capacity of 150 each, while one hostel accommodates female students with 84 seats. The hostel rooms are generously sized, comfortable, and well-furnished, offering round-the-clock internet access, reading facilities, and additional indoor sports amenities. Even though the infrastructure of the hostel is good, the seating capacity can be increased as many outstation candidates take admission. There are a lot of complaints about the food quality of the mess which needs improvement. Even after the availability of mess, students are required to eat outside due to poor quality. 

Library: The university's library is a cornerstone of intellectual pursuits for students and academia alike. It is fully computerized and serves as a treasure trove of information, housing a vast collection of text and reference books, as well as national and international periodicals, journals, theses, and dissertations. 

Sports Center: Recognizing the importance of a well-rounded personality, the university places significant emphasis on sports. It provides a range of sports facilities, including cricket and football grounds, a volleyball court, a basketball court, a badminton court, a table tennis room, and a well-equipped gymnasium. Athletic tracks and a swimming pool are also in development. Students also enjoy lots of indoor games like Badminton, Chess, Table tennis, etc. 

Hang-Out Areas/Cafes: Informal spaces for discussions and refreshments not only offer a lively atmosphere and a boost of energy but also introduce an innovative learning approach known as the "Cafeteria approach." This unique and informal method of learning allows individuals to engage in debates, discussions, and deliberations over a cup of coffee, actively nurturing their interpersonal skills. The campus houses a well-furnished and spacious cafeteria at its heart, offering a variety of nutritious and hygienic food and beverages to cater to the diverse tastes of students, staff, and visitors. Apart from the cafeteria, students are also seen hanging out in the green spaces and different sports centers inside the campus. 

Our Take:

Jagannath University Jaipur has developed good infrastructure facilities for the faculties as well as the students. Apart from some complaints related to wi-fi speed, all other facilities like classrooms, smart boards, library, sports facilities, etc. are up to the mark. The hostel also has all basic amenities but there have been frequent complaints related to the food quality in the mess, which can be improved.

The placements at JU Jaipur have not been very impressive in the recent year. Initially, the placement was good during the early years of the foundation of the university. University Placement Cell commonly known as CRMC (Corporate Resource Management Centre) describes the functions and activities that support the growing relationship of academia and industry.  Though the university tries to fix internships for the students, many students complain that they have to manage internships on their own. 

The Placement department at Jagannath University comprises the students’ committee with 10 members from the last two years of the course and the Placement department represented by the Placement Managers, faculties and industry professionals. The leading companies from all sectors are invited by the Placement department on campus, where the eligible students are facilitated to go through the entire selection process. The entire process is governed by the student's ability and performance as well as the requirements and norms of the industry.

Our Take 

There are some reputed companies that visit the campus. However, the internships and placements at JU Jaipur are not up to the mark. There is a proper placement team but they have not been able to place all the students regularly. Students often complain about the number of companies that visit the campus. The average placement package is also very nominal as compared to the tuition fee charged. The lowest placement package students received was 2.8 LPA which is too low!! We believe that the university must take it to heart and get more placement opportunities for the students. The ROI for students is very less.

Jagannath University Jaipur Diversity and Demographics

Jagannath University Jaipur attracts students from other states of India as well. There are very few students from other countries as well and there is a limited strength of such students. The number of admissions in different departments has not been very impressive and mostly students are from nearby areas. There are students from other states such as Gujarat, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, etc. but there is not much diversity. 

In terms of demography, JU Jaipur has a poor ratio. The number of male students is very high as compared to female students. The gender ratio at Jagannath University has been degrading over the years. At present, there are 80 percent of male students and 20 percent of female students. The number of admissions has also not been very impressive in the last 5 years as it has degraded. The student-teacher ratio also keeps fluctuating as the number of faculties is very low and they keep resigning at regular intervals. 

Our Take

JU Jaipur has to work a lot on its demographic profile and its diversity. Though the university claims of having a diverse culture on the campus as they celebrate festivals of varied cultures, the population diversity is not impressive. Also, the gender ratio is very poor which is a matter of concern. The University needs to strategize to encourage more female students to be admitted. We believe there's a lot of scope improvement overall.

Jagannath University Faculty and Management/ Administration

Jagannath University Jaipur has qualified faculties from different parts of the country. They have maintained good qualities of the faculty as well. The only problem with the faculty is their sustenance for a longer period of time. 

The management and administration of the JU Jaipur is divided into hierarchies. They have a proper system to address the issues and complaints of the students. The management has been classified into Dean, Academic Affairs, Dean, Students Welfare, Chief Proctor, Registrar and Deputy Registrar, Public Information Officer, Manager and Hostel Wardens for different hostels. 

The students can raise their complaints both online and offline. However, the problems of the students are not addressed properly and they complain about the lackadaisical approach of the management. 

Our Take 

The management and administration of Jagannath University Jaipur is overall good but there are certain complains as well. The top management is accountable for all the problems and concerns of the University but sometimes the issues are not taken in to consideration. However the number of students are limited in every department, the faculties, heads of departments, directors and top management are able to address most of the issues but there are some minor cases of dissatisfaction by the students against the management.

Jagannath University Jaipur is located in the city of Jaipur, which is the capital of the Indian state of Rajasthan. Jaipur is a prominent city in northern India known for its rich history, vibrant culture, and architectural heritage. The distance from Jagannath University to Jaipur Junction railway station is approximately 23 to 25 kilometers, depending on the route taken. This is one of the main railway stations in Jaipur. The distance from the university to Jaipur International Airport is around 30 to 32 kilometers. The location of the university is bit far from the main city.

Jagannath University Jaipur, like any educational institution, has its own set of pros and cons. These can vary depending on individual experiences and priorities. The university's facilities include well-equipped classrooms, laboratories, a library, sports facilities, and more, contributing to a conducive learning environment. However, there are many areas where JU Jaipur has to look after. The cost of education is very high and in certain cases the quality of education is not as per the expectation. The university also has to look after the maintenance of the infrastructure. The management of the university is not up to the mark as the students are not happy with the response of the management when any issue is raised. The internship and placements are also not very great. There are many recruiters that hire students every year, but the students say that the placement rate is not very high.
