Bihar STET Eligibility Criteria 2026

The Bihar STET examination is conducted to evaluate the eligibility of candidates for teaching secondary schools (class 9-10) and higher secondary schools (Class 11-12) for all the State Government schools. Aspirants will have to appear for two papers - Paper 1 and Paper 2. The Bihar STET Paper 1 will comprise subjects such as English, Hindi, Urdu, Bhojpuri, Maths, Science, Social Science, Physical Education, etc. Whereas Paper 2 will have subjects such as English, Hindi, Urdu, Bhojpuri, Maths, Science, Social Science, etc.

The Bihar School Education Board, or BSEB, has set different eligibility criteria for different subjects and posts. Students can find the detailed eligibility criteria for Bihar STET as follows:

Candidates need to match the subject-specific minimum qualifications for both paper 1 and paper 2:

Paper 1 (Secondary)

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant subject with a minimum of 50% marks along with a B.Ed. degree.
  • OR, Master's degree in relevant subjects and a B.Ed. degree.
  • OR, Bachelor's degree/ master's degree with a minimum of 45% marks (as per NCTE norms) with B.Ed.
  • OR, Four-year course BA BEd/ BSc BEd exam passed

Paper 2 (Senior Secondary)

  • Master's degree in a relevant subject with a minimum of 50% marks and B.Ed. and BA BEd/BSc BEd degree.
  • OR, Master's degree with at least 45% marks (as per NCTE norms) with B.Ed.
  • OR, Master's degree with at least 55% marks and a three-year B.Ed. MEd course.

Age Limit

The student must be of a certain age before applying for the posts. The age criteria for STET 2026 are mentioned below:

  • For General or Unreserved Students: Between 21and 37 years of age
  • For OBC & Female (General) Students: Between 21 and 40 years of age
  • For SC (Scheduled Caste) and ST (Scheduled Tribe) Students: Between 21 and 42 years of age

Nationality

Only students who are citizens of India and possess a domicile in Bihar can apply for the post.

The Government norms decide the salary of the Bihar STET teachers.
