Jaipur National University’s Review & Verdict by CollegeDekho

Campus at a Glance

Located in the Pink City - Jaipur, Jaipur National University was established in 2007 through an Ordinance of the Government of Rajasthan. It is a private self-financed University, sponsored by Mahima Shiksha Samiti. The beautiful university campus spans 170 acres and includes an administrative block, admission cell, departmental blocks, cafeteria, library, auditorium, and other facilities.

JNU is accredited by NAAC and recognized by UGC. It offers 80+ courses at Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Diploma, Certificate, and Research level with multiple specializations. These fall under a total of 16 schools, some of which include the School of Business Management, School of Engineering and Technology, School of Computer and Systems Sciences.

But all that glitters is not gold! Several former students of this institution have expressed regret over their decision to attend, but they were compelled to enrol for various reasons. Unfortunately, the University prioritizes profit over imparting quality education and valuable skills to its students. Nonetheless, there are a handful of faculty members who offer guidance and aid students in making informed decisions about their future. Despite the negative feedback from students, CollegeDekho has conducted an impartial evaluation of Jaipur National University, which may aid you in determining if it is the right fit for you.

Jaipur National University Rankings: Good to Bad!

The university has been ranked 92nd as per NIRF Ranking 2023 in the Pharmacy category. However, in 2023, it failed to grab any position. Our Take

The NIRF Ranking for the university in the Pharmacy category has fallen since 2021 which is a clear indication that it not keeping up with its standards. Other than this, JNU was surveyed by Indian Today in 2019 and was ranked good in a few areas, but no recent surveys validate the quality of its education.

Jaipur National University Academia & Batch Size

Jaipur National University offers 80+ courses at UG, PG, Certificate, and Research level. Admission into these courses is conducted offline and online on the basis of merit and entrance exam scores. It accepts qualifying examinations such as JEE, NEET, and CAT/ MAT/ XAT/ CMAT scores for BTech, MBBAS, and MBA admission, respectively.

The university also conducts the Jaipur Entrance cum Scholarship Test (JEST) for various UG and PG courses. It offers various scholarships such as merit-based scholarships, scholarships for research assistants and scholars, scholarships by various government funding agencies, and scholarships for UG to PG progression for JNU students.

The batch strength from a 3-year UG course is 454, a 4-year UG course is 523, and a 5-year UG course is 202. For a 2-year PG course, the batch strength is 202 while for a 3-year PG course, the number of students enrolled is 5. Male to female ratio is found to be 76:24 in Jaipur National University. Around 38% of students studying at the university are from other states. The fee structure ranges from INR 15,200 to INR 6.21 lakhs. The university claims to have 450+ faculty members across various schools.

Our Take:

Considering the batch size and the count of faculty members, it seems that the number of students per teacher is quite high due to which it is impossible to give personal attention to each one. The fee is average, but many students claim that the university charges money for various unnecessary issues. Also, the hostel fee is around 1 lakh which seems quite high for many students.

Jaipur National University Infrastructure

Jaipur National University campus is spread across an area of 170 acres. Put simply, the infrastructure is quite good with different blocks for all courses.

Classrooms: JNU has 96 learning areas provided through its 16 schools. It offers a range of lecture theatres and lecture rooms, tutorial rooms, and smart classrooms. The classrooms are well-maintained and equipped with all the modern amenities. Since the batch size for every course is different, classrooms are designed accordingly.

Labs: There are labs for different streams with the latest equipment and facilities for students to impart practical skills. However, many students have complained that the labs are not fully functional. The labs for medical engineering courses are pretty good with the latest equipment but there are no separate labs for every course.

Auditoriums: JNU has 4 high-quality auditoriums where many events take place regularly. JNU’s Main campus auditorium has a 270-seat capacity. The SIILAS campus and medical campus also have one auditorium each with a seat capacity of 300. There is one Open Air Auditorium with a 500-seat capacity. All the auditoriums are well-furnished and air-conditioned, equipped with modern projection and audio systems and access to the Internet.

Cafeteria/Hang-Out Areas: The university has cafeterias that allow students to socialize and hang out. There is free Wi-Fi, multipurpose furniture, and ample space to eat and study.

Hostel: There are separate hostels for boys, girls, and international students. Including all, there are a total of 2,250 rooms in self-catering residences and 600 rooms for Medical students. The hostel fee is around INR 1 LPA, which seems to be heavy on the pocket of students belonging to the middle & lower classes of society. Many male students have complained about the mental and physical assault by the warden. The quality of food is also not up to the mark in the hostel mess.

Parking: The university has a good parking space for both faculty and students.

Internet Connection: The labs are equipped with ethernet cables and free Wi-Fi is available in hostels, cafeterias, libraries, etc. However, many students complained that the Wi-Fi goes down after 6 PM in hostels.

Extra-Curricular Activities: The university has various student clubs and societies for professional and interpersonal skill development. There is a drama club, photography club, readers and writers forum, debaters club, NSS cell, eco-green club, sports club, alumni club, and more. However, many students say that not much attention is paid to extra-curricular activities. JNU also has a gymnasium.

Our Take:

Like most of the private universities, the infrastructure of Jaipur National University seems attractive. Many modern facilities are provided here to help students learn and grow beyond academics. However, the quality of education offered is still debatable as many students have regretted their decision after having joined the university.

Our Take:

The placement record of Jaipur National University seems fine. However, during our survey, we came to know that the placement cell is not very active and the placement opportunities are not very impressive. While companies like IBM, LG, Byju’s, Infosys, NIIT Technologies, Amazon, Intel, HP, etc. visit the JNU campus, not many students from different courses are placed. The university can surely increase the placement opportunities for students so they don’t have to hunt for jobs after graduation.

Jaipur National University Diversity Representation

The male-to-female ratio in Jaipur National University is 76-34%, which is not great. The university can surely come up with some initiative to maintain this ratio. The percentage of students studying at JNU from other states is 38%. International students can also apply to this institute although there is no information on the number of seats available for international students.

Jaipur National University Management/ Administration

According to the Jaipur National University website, it has 450+ faculty members across various schools. Dr. Sandeep Bakshi, the University's Chancellor and Founder, has received numerous national awards, including the "Pride of the Nation" award in the III edition of India's Greatest Leaders 2017-18. The Pro-Chancellor and other professors have also received many awards.

The faculty is well-qualified and helps students learn to their full potential. However, not all professors are helpful, as many students have complained that the teachers don’t pay much attention to every student and don’t solve doubts properly. One of the factors that contributes to this is the large batch size. The university management organizes various events and festivals for students' overall development.

Our Take:

The education quality offered at Jaipur National University can surely be improved and teachers should be more willing to help students clear their doubts. More emphasis should be provided to extracurricular activities as many students think the college is not doing enough for their overall personality development.

Jaipur National University Location

Jaipur National University is situated at Jaipur-Agra Bypass, near the New RTO office, Jagatpura, Jaipur, Rajasthan. There are various modes of transport like bus, train, and air to reach the university. The nearest railway station to JNU is Getor Jagatpura Railway Station which is 4 km from the university. Jaipur International Airport is the nearest airport to the university and is located at a distance of 7.3 km. The nearest bus stop is Jagatpur Bus Stop which is 3.7 km away from the Jaipur National University. The location is quite safe and students can find various hang-out joints and other shops nearby.

Jaipur National University: Expectation vs Reality CollegeDekho Verdict

Jaipur National University has the potential to become one of the top universities at the state and national levels if it focuses more on providing the best quality education to students rather than just focusing on improving the infrastructure. It surely has a lot of modern facilities and a good learning environment which students don’t get at many private institutes. As the university is located in Jaipur, one of the most developed cities in India, students can find various career opportunities here in many renowned companies.
