Campus at a Glimpse
Holding a significant position in Central India, Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) is a renowned state university in Indore, Madhya Pradesh (MP). It is known for its academic excellence and placement records. As per sources, DAVV is the only university in Madhya Pradesh accredited with an A+ grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
DAVV's sprawling campus provides students with well-developed infrastructure, adequate facilities, and an inclusive environment to learn and grow. Its three campuses, Takshila Parisar, Avanti Parisar, and Nalanda Parisar comprise a total area of 760 acres. DAVV is home to more than 10,000 students and 350 faculty members.
DAVV Indore offers 100+ courses at the undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels. Students are encouraged to participate in co-curricular and sports activities, research, and live projects. The most popular DAVV courses are MBA, BBA, B.Tech, and M.Tech. The fee structure ranges from INR 3,000 to INR 5,00,000. The annual fee for the majority of courses is under INR 50,000, which students have found to be affordable. Furthermore, the university offers ample placement opportunities. The placement percentage in most UG courses reaches around 100%.
However, not everything is as clean as a mirror in DAVV. Various controversies regarding the poor evaluation process had been in the news. Also, students have shared issues related to limited internships and exposure.
Here is a detailed assessment of DAVV on various factors to help students make the right decision.
DAVV NIRF Ranking: Lack of Growth!
Category | 2023 | 2022 | 2021 |
---|---|---|---|
Overall | 101-150 | 101-150 | 101-150 |
Engineering | - | - | 251-300 |
Our Take:
DAVV has been consistently ranked in the top 150 universities in India by NIRF. This reflects its commitment to maintaining its standards. However, the lack of growth in the overall NIRF Ranking over the years also testifies that there is ample scope for further improvement of the university in different fields such as placements, faculty, academic expenditure, etc. Also, it has not been able to secure a spot in the engineering category after 2021. This could be due to a number of factors, including a lack of effort.
DAVV Academia & Batch Size
DAVV Indore offers a wide range of courses in a variety of disciplines, including arts, science, commerce, management, engineering, law, design, pharmacy, and vocational. The university follows the Choice-Based Credit System (CBCS) and the guidelines of NEP 2020. This gives students the flexibility to choose electives as per their interests in each programme. As per student reviews, the curriculum is updated, and the examinations are held on time. Also, there is no regulation to maintain minimum attendance, helping students prepare for various competitive and entrance examinations.
Let’s have a look at the course-wise batch size of DAVV as per the NIRF 2023 Report.
(All programs) | Total Students | ||
---|---|---|---|
UG (3 Years) | 1435 | ||
UG (4 Years) | 2464 | ||
UG (5 Years) | 539 | ||
PG (2 Year) | 3668 | ||
PG-Integrated | 2003 | ||
PG (6 Year) | 581 | ||
Total | 10,690 |
As per students' feedback, the batch size at DAVV is large, but the faculty-to-student ratio is good.
Our Take:
Implementation of the New Education Policy 2020 and the CBCS shows that DAVV is committed to providing the most relevant, industry-integrated education aligned with the latest trends. This also helps students stay updated with students from other top universities in terms of academics. DAVV caters to a large batch size, which might have its own pros and cons. The large bacth size at the university reflects the accessibility of the university to a larger student demographic. At the same time, it is commendable that it is able to maintain a healthy student-to-faculty ratio.
DAVV Infrastructure
DAVV campus boasts of impressive infrastructure and facilities. Let’s look into the details.
Classroom:
The classrooms at DAVV are spacious and have basic facilities like benches, desks, and blackboards. Some classrooms have projector facilities. However, some students have complained about old and uncomfortable furniture in some classrooms. Also, AC facility is not available here.
Auditorium/ Seminar Halls/ Labs:
As per student reviews on Quora, DAVV has a large auditorium and various activity halls. Students on Quora have mixed reviews about labs. Some found the labs well-equipped and wifi-enabled. However, a few stated that the equipment is old and not working properly.
Library:
The central library at DAVV is well-equipped with the necessary books and reading materials, as per student reviews. However, it lacks a wide selection of books and journals, as per a few students.
Internet:
The campus has internet and wifi facilities. However, students sometimes face issues with login and speed.
Hostel:
DAVV provides separate hostel facilities for male and female students. Some students have complained that some hostels are better than others in terms of space and facilities. Majorly, double-sharing rooms are provided with common bathroom facilities in every wing. Some hostels have spacious rooms, while a few are small and cramped. Hostels have basic facilities like a table, chair, cupboard, and bed. Additionally, regular cleaning is done by the housekeeping staff. Also, hostels have mess and canteen facilities.
Activities:
DAVV organises activities and events on a monthly basis. However, students feel dissatisfied with the frequency of the extracurricular activities.
Cafe/ Hang-out:
DAVV has inaugurated a new canteen and cafeteria, which has a branch of Indian Coffee House where tasty and hygienic food is served. There are various cafes and restaurants near the campus as well.
Our Take:
DAVV has a decent infrastructure and provides adequate facilities to the student community. However, the need for enhancement in every area is clearly visible. For example, students have complained about the lack of journals at the university library. The university needs to understand that access to national and international journals is a great source of knowledge for students, especially PG and doctoral students. At the same time, the university needs to focus on improving its IT infrastructure so that students do not have to face any difficulties while accessing wi-fi on campus.
DAVV Internships and Placements

DAVV Internships
The university has incorporated compulsory internships into its curriculum. Students have to do a 15-day to one-year internship, course-wise. Various companies visited university campuses to recruit interns including Parle, TCS, and Accenture, to name a few. However, the number of companies is limited. Also, internship opportunities are limited in some courses, such as BBA.

Our Take:
DAVV can be called a female-centric university, with 61% female students and 39% male students. It can be due to various reasons, such as safety, inclusive atmosphere, and location. However, the number of students opting for DAVV admission from outside Madhya Pradesh is only 9%. It clearly shows that DAVV has a strong regional presence but fails to attract students from other states.

Many professors have 10+ years of experience and great educational qualifications. Most of the teachers are well-qualified and supportive of the students.
However, some students disliked the teaching quality and irregularities in conducting classes. Additionally, students found the examination level to be moderate. The pass percentage ranges from 70 to 95%.
Our Take:
The positive feedback from most students shows the high quality of the faculty available at DAVV. However, the university should ensure enhancements in the teaching quality and conduct regular classes.
DAVV Location
DAVV is located in Indore, which is popularly known as ‘Mini Mumbai’. The exact location of the DAVV campus is Nalanda Campus, RNT Marg, Chhoti Gwaltoli, Indore, Madhya Pradesh. DAVV: Expectation vs Reality CLD Verdict!
Indeed, DAVV is one of the top university in MP, renowned for its academic excellence, faculty, and placements. The affordable fee structure doesn’t burn holes in the pockets of students. In terms of placements, DAVV offers higher placements than other universities located in Indore, such as Medicaps and Acropolis.
While DAVV offers a number of strengths, there is room for improvement in infrastructure and teaching quality. Some courses could benefit from expanded opportunities, and the university could attract more students from other states to enhance diversity.
