Indian Navy recruitment is done through the Agneepath scheme for those who have passed class 10th and 12th. There are two main categories to apply: Agniveer (SSR) - Senior Secondary Recruit and Agniveer (MR) - Matric Recruit. 

Indian Navy Posts for Class 10 and Class 12 Pass Students

Looking for careers to explore after 12th boards, the Indian Navy is calling you. Indian Navy recruits class 10th and 12th passed students through Agneepath scheme in two main categories: Agniveer (SSR) - Senior Secondary Recruit and Agniveer (MR) - Matric Recruit. For SSR, you must have completed your 12th boards with Mathematics and Physics with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate. For MR, you must have passed the Matriculation Examination with a minimum 50% marks in aggregate. The selection process consists of two stages, where one is a written test and the other is a physical examination.

What is the Agneepath Scheme For Indian Navy Posts?

The Agneepath scheme was introduced recently for the recruitment of the Indian Armed Forces. Under the scheme, class 10th in 12th passed students will be selected and enrolled into the armed forces as Agniveers for a period of 4 years. After these 4 years are over, they will return to society, and are free to get employment in other sectors or pursue their career with the skills that they have acquired during these long 4 years. They will also be offered an opportunity to apply for enrollment in the permanent cadre.

Up to 25% of these candidates will be selected and enrolled in the armed forces as a regular cadre.

Indian Navy Agniveer (SSR) Educational Qualifications

Before filling out the application form, you need to check out the following educational qualifications required:

Qualified in 10+2 with Mathematics & Physics from Boards of School Education recognised by the Ministry of Education, Govt of India, with minimum 50% marks in aggregate.

OR

Passed Three years diploma course in Engineering (Mechanical/ Electrical/ Automobiles/ Computer Science/ Instrumentation Technology/ Information Technology) from Central, State and UT recognised Polytechnic Institute with 50% marks in aggregate.

OR

Passed Two-year Vocational Course with Non-vocational subject viz, Physics and Mathematics from Education Boards recognised by Central, State and UT with 50% marks in aggregate.

Indian Navy Agniveer (MR) Educational Qualifications

The eligibility criteria for the MR post are:

  • Candidate must have passed Matriculation Examination with minimum 50% marks in aggregate from the Boards of School Education recognised by the Ministry of Education, Govt. of India.

After exactly 4 years, you walk away with a lump sum corpus of INR 10.01 Lakhs plus accumulated interest. The entire amount is 100% Exempt from Income Tax.

Family Protection

(In Case of Untoward Death)

If an Agniveer loses their life, their family is heavily shielded with immediate, extensive financial relief:

* Life Insurance Cover: A non-contributory cover of ₹48 Lakhs paid straight to the family.

* Service Ex-Gratia: An additional ₹44 Lakhs lump sum if the casualty is directly attributable to operational military service.

* Full Term Payout: The family receives the full pay for the remainder of the unserved 4-year tenure, including the complete, un-deducted Seva Nidhi component.

Medical Disability Support

(In Case of Service Injury)

If you suffer an operational injury resulting in a medical discharge, the Navy provides an immediate one-time financial safety net based on your disability percentage:

* 100% Disability: A one-time ex gratia payment of ₹44 Lakhs.

* 75% Disability: A one-time ex gratia payment of ₹25 Lakhs.

* 50% Disability: A one-time ex gratia payment of ₹15 Lakhs.

The Agniveer recruitment happens twice in 1 year, that is, in two cycles, where the first cycle is conducted in May and the second cycle starts in the latter half of the year. There are some restrictions for recruitment with the Indian Army. Permanent body tattoos are only permitted on the inside of the forearms, i.e., from the inside of the elbow to the wrist, and on the back of the palm (dorsal) side of the hand.
