OJEE 2024 Reservation Criteria: Important Points to Remember

The Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) 2024 reservation criteria specifies the percentage of seats reserved for different categories. However, certain specifications must be followed:

  • Seats reserved for scheduled castes and tribes are applicable only to those who are SC/ST by birth, and not through adoption or marriage.
  • If seats reserved for a particular category remain unfilled, they will be filled by candidates from the general category.
  • Applicants applying under the SC or ST category must submit a category certificate issued by the Tahsildar of their birthplace in Odisha to meet the OJEE 2024 reservation criteria.
  • SC/ST candidates who have migrated to Odisha from another state will not receive the benefit of the OJEE reservation criteria.
  • Candidates who fall under the Green Cardholders category must provide their parent's original green card issued by the Family Welfare Department of the Government of Odisha.
  • Applicants applying under the Physically Challenged (PC) or Persons with Disabilities (PwD) category must have a disability of 40% or more, as provided under Section 39 of the Persons with Disabilities Act, 1995.
  • Candidates under the PC/PwD category will have to attend a mandatory medical board to determine the medical standard of their disability. They will be provided with a Scribe or Reader for assistance during the exam.
  • If the medical board determines that a candidate is not disabled, such candidates will be considered under the unreserved category.
  • Applicants applying under the Ex-Servicemen (ES) category must be Odisha natives and apply at Rajya Sainik Board. The Board will provide the final list of selected candidates under the ES quota.
  • Candidates applying under the Women category must provide the Nativity Certificate of Odisha State.
  • Candidates with a cumulative parent's annual income less than 8 lakh per annum are eligible for the Tuition Fee Waiver (TFW) quota.
  • Applicants applying under the TFW quota must produce their parent's income certificate issued by the local Tahsildar during the OJEE Counselling process.
  • The outlying Odia (OL) category is for Oriya language-speaking people residing in other states. The OJEE reservation criteria under the OL category is not applicable for private engineering colleges.
  • Candidates from states other than Odisha are not eligible for B.Tech admission into government colleges but may apply for private engineering colleges.
  • Transfer of vacant seats will be done for all categories, except for the Tuition Fee Waiver (TFW) category, due to its supernumerary nature.
