Auxiliary Nursing and Midwifery (ANM) is a course that comes under the supervision of medical nursing. The duration of the A.N.M course is 2 years which includes 6 months of the internship. The main objective of the course is to teach students how to help the entire community of people by providing healthcare. ANM course is important to produce trained and skilled professionals for the field of nursing. Due to the shortage of nurses, the requirement of A.N.M. Graduates is gradually increasing.

Admissions of A.N.M Colleges in India are conducted at the institute level as well as at the state level. For some colleges, admissions are based on entrance exams, while some colleges provide merit-based admissions. Eligibility Criteria for ANM Admissions 2021

The eligibility requirements for the ANM course are different for different colleges. Following are some of the common eligibility criteria followed by most ANM colleges in India.

  • Candidates must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examinations with English as one of the compulsory subjects.

  • Candidates must have passed from the Science stream with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as their main subjects.

  • Candidates who have passed the Class 12th examination from the National Institute of Open School or State Open School are also considered eligible for ANM admission.

  • The minimum percentage requirement for admission may vary from one college to another, but one must secure at least 40% aggregate marks in both general and compulsory subjects.

  • The minimum age for ANM admission is 17 years and the maximum age of admission is 35 years.

  • Candidates who have passed 10+2 in Health care Science or Vocational stream can also apply.

  • Candidates should be medically fit at the time of admission.

How to Apply for ANM Admissions 2021

Check out the steps given below to apply for ANM admissions 2021:

  • In most cases, whether it is an institution-level admission or a state-level admission, the application process is filled out in an online format.

  • If you apply for a specific institute, you will need to fill out the application form from the official website of the institute.

  • In the case of state-level admissions, you will need to fill out the application form from the official website of the entrance examination or the conducting body (if there is any).

  • On the homepage of the respective college, you can easily get a link to fill up the application form.

  • In order to fill up the application form, you need to first register yourselves with the institute after that you can fill up the application form.

  • Finally, when completing the application form, you will need to upload your colour photograph, supporting documents, and after that, you will need to submit the application form while paying the application fee mentioned by the institute.

  • If you want to fill up the application form in offline mode, you can download the application form from the official website of the college. In some cases, you need to personally collect the application form from the admission office of the college.

Documents required for ANM Admission 2021

The list of documents which required to be submitted at the time of ANM admission are mentioned below:-

  • Class 12th Certificate and Marksheet

  • Class 10th Certificate and Marksheet

  • Transfer Certificate

  • Migration Certificate

  • Character Certificate

  • Birth certificate 

  • School leaving certificate

  • Id Proof- Aadhar Card/ Passport/ Voter id/ Pan card)

  • Caste certificate

  • Extracurricular Certificate

  • 5- Recent Passport Size photograph

NOTE: Candidates are required to carry original documents along with the photocopies at the time of admission for the document verification. 

ANM Selection Process 2021

The selection process for ANM also varies from one college to another depending on the level of admission followed by the college. In some cases, the candidates will be selected on the basis of their performance in the Class 12 examinations while in some cases,  the selection is made on the basis of the entrance examination. Based on the candidate’s performance they will be called for the counselling process. In state-level counsellings, candidates’ are allocated seats in different colleges depending on their performance. The one with the best results gets to select a college among all the available options. And as for the candidates with low performances, they are allocated seats at the remaining colleges.
