Is getting admission in GNM is tough?

The GNM is a primary nursing course that is pursued by individuals seeking careers in nursing and healthcare. The difficulty level of a regular state-level GNM entrance exam is moderate. However, you are recommended to score higher to get admission to any of the top colleges as admission is considered on the basis of the merit list generated on the basis of marks obtained.

What are the documents required for GNM admission?

A photo identification card, residential address proof (Aadhar Card/Driving License/Passport/Voter ID Card/Electricity Bill etc), Class 12th passing certificate from a recognised board with minimum passing marks (different with every state), and a passport size photograph are the basic requirements to get admission in any of the GNM courses in India.

Can I do GNM after I complete my 10th?

Is GNM equivalent to B.Sc (Nursing)?

The courses are similar in educational outcomes but different in practice. B.Sc in nursing is a graduation degree and the degree holder has career opportunities in Nursing and other domains as well. However, on the other hand, a GNM is a diploma course after which the certificate holder can apply for jobs in the nursing industry like Community Health workers, Nursing assistants, Health Visitor, Home Nurse, etc.

Being the citizen of India, you can apply for GNM course admission for any state. However, every state reserves a particular percentage of total seats to its domicile applicants that changes accordingly.

What to do between GNM and B.Sc (Nursing)?

Although the eligibility requirements for both the courses are same, the practice of both the courses are different. A B.Sc in Nursing has more potential in future opportunities in terms of career, education, and research and will be considered superior than a GNM diploma.

Is GNM better than ANM?

General Nursing and Midwifery is a three year diploma course that gives you more in-depth knowledge of nursing in medical facilities and in general. GNM course is a more focused and broader course than an ANM as the ANM course is a certificate course of 2 years only.

Is GNM exam conducted by central government?

The GNM or General Nursing Midwifery diploma course is recognised by the medical institutions all over the country, However, the entrance exams for a GNM course is conducted by their respective state government bodies separately. Every state examination board is totally responsible for GNM admissions in India.

Can I do B.Sc after completing my GNM?

A GNM is a diploma course in Nursing and medical hospitality. An interested student can pursue B.Sc after completing GNM as the eligibility criteria for admission to B.Sc is 12th standard as well.
