National Institute of Technology (NIT) Patna is the sixth oldest engineering college in India. Originating in 1886 as a survey training school, it received its NIT status in 2004 by the Government of India. Located on the south bank of the holy river Ganges behind Gandhi Ghat, the campus has a picturesque river view and a historic building. Though the size of the campus is just 40 acres, it provides sufficient space and well-maintained infrastructure to students. 

NIT Patna has been designated as a ‘Centre of Excellence’ to provide advanced education in engineering, science, technology and humanities streams. It offers B.Tech, B.Arch, M.Tech, MURP, Integrated M.Sc and M.Tech/MURP-PhD (dual degree) programmes. NIT Patna focuses strictly on research & development and provides degrees with research certificates upon completion of the course. 

While its compact campus and aged infrastructure may not be fascinating at first sight, but its holistic academia, stellar placements and lively student body win students' hearts in the end. NIT Patna Infrastructure

NIT Patna has a rather small campus compared to other NITs. The building is old and less spacious. However, new academic blocks are under construction and the old one have been renovated. Classroom: According to the students’ inputs, the classrooms for first-year students are small in size compared to the number of students. However, the classrooms are well-maintained and equipped with AC and ICT facilities. 

Auditorium/ Seminar Halls/ Labs: There are two auditorium halls at NIT Patna, an open-air theatre and a mini auditorium. The halls and labs are outfitted with new equipment and have enough facilities as told by the NIT Patna students. 

Library: NIT Patna has a central library which remains occupied all the time. It has a great collection of study materials and is equipped with high-speed internet and air conditioning. 

Internet: The institute provides fast internet access across the campus and hostels. The internet speed reaches up to 800 Mbps on LAN and 300 Mbps on Wifi.

Though NIT Patna has a small campus, it incorporates well-maintained infrastructure and sufficient facilities. The satisfactory reviews of students and alumni show that the size of the campus does not affect the spirit of learning. NIT Patna soaring placement rate is a testament to the institute’s excellence in education and training. The placement rate and packages offered for B.Tech and B.Arch are commendable. The M.Tech/MURP and Integrated M.Sc programmes have a slightly lower placement rate.
