Assam TET 2023: In the most recent development, the government of Assam made a significant decision during its cabinet meeting on Wednesday concerning the Teacher Eligibility Test. The resolution entails the elimination of the requirement for Graduate Teachers (GT) and Post Graduate Teachers (PGT) in Secondary Schools to undertake the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET). In place of the current system, a new approach will be implemented. This involves the integration of the Teacher Eligibility Test with the Recruitment Test for Graduate Teachers and Post-Graduate Teachers in secondary schools. Assam's Education Minister Ranoj Pegu conveyed this news through his Twitter handle saying, "Assam Cabinet Decides: TET will not be required for Graduate and Post Graduate Teachers of Secondary Schools. Assam will conduct the TET-cum-Recruitment Test for GT & PGT of Secondary Schools. Successful candidates will be equal to the number of vacancies."

The Department of Elementary Education, Assam recently released a notification through an advertisement for the Special 6th Schedule Teacher Eligibility Test 2023. Results for the 6th Schedule Exam have been released on June 15, 2023. The Assam TET 2023 Special 6th Schedule Exam was conducted on April 30, 2023. At ssa.assam.gov.in, aspirants can apply online.

A total of two papers, such as Paper I and Paper II were held on the same day in 33 districts of Assam. • The applicant must have completed his/her class 12th education from a school of a recognized board.

• The applicant must have at least 50 percent marks in his/her higher secondary examinations if he/she belongs to the general or open category.

• The applicant must have completed his/her graduation from a university that has received UGC recognition.
• The applicant must have secured 50 percent marks on aggregate in his/her graduation.
• The applicant must have a two-year B.Ed (Bachelor in Education) during his/her graduation.
• If the applicant has not done graduation from a recognized university, he/she must have done a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) from any recognized institute.

Apart from these, the candidate must qualify for the eligibility criteria declared by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) and its norms.

• The minimum age that is acceptable for appearing in the Assam TET 2023 exam is 18 years.
• The maximum age that is valid for sitting for the Assam TET 2023 examination is 44 years.

Assam TET 2023 Selection Process

Assam TET consists of a written exam. There will be two papers; Assam TET Paper-I is for candidates who intend to become primary class teachers. Assam TET Paper-II is for candidates who wish to become a teacher for Upper Primary level 9 (Classes VI to VIII).

To qualify for the Assam Teachers’ Eligibility Test (TET), candidates should score 60% i.e. 90 marks out of 150. Only then, they will be able to qualify for the Teachers’ Eligibility Test (TET). In addition, SC/ST (Hills)/ST (Plain)/ OBC/ MOBC/ PWD (PH) will also get a relaxation of 5 %. Thus, these candidates need to score 83 out of 150 (qualifying marks) i.e. 55%.
