TET 2023-24

TET 2023-24: TET is an eligibility test for teachers in different states as well as on the central level. The TET exam is held by both the central and state governments to shortlist eligible teachers for schools and colleges. Some of the TET exams conducted at the state level are UPTET, OTET, WBTET, TNTET, etc, on the other hand, CTET is conducted at the national level by CBSE. TET full form is the Teacher Eligibility Test and as the name suggests it is an eligibility test conducted as per the guidelines of NCTE to shortlist the TET qualified teachers. 

TET has two papers, Paper 1 & 2. Paper 1 is the primary level for the candidates who wish to become a teacher at the primary level and paper 2 is for the upper primary level. TET exam is mandatory for becoming a government teacher in India. Through the TET exam, a candidate gets the eligibility to become a teacher. TET Notification 2023-24

The release of Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) notification is the first stage of the exam. TET Eligibility Criteria

TET Eligibility for Paper 1

For paper 1 of TET 2023-24, candidates need to fulfill the following TET eligibility criteria given below:

  • The candidate must have passed class 12th with at least 50% and appeared in the final year of the 2-year diploma in elementary education or

  • The candidate must have passed class 12th with at least 45% and passed or appeared in the final year of the 2-year diploma in elementary education as per the NCTE Regulations 2002 or

  • The candidate must have passed class 12th with at least 50% and passed or appeared for the final year of the 4-year bachelor of elementary education or

  • The candidate must have pursued graduation and passed or appeared for the final year of the 2-year diploma in education (special education) or

  • The candidate must have done graduation and appearing in the final year of the 2-year diploma in elementary education

TET Eligibility for Paper 2

For paper 2 of TET 2023-24, candidates need to fulfill the following TET eligibility criteria given below:

  • The candidate must be a graduate or appearing for the final year of the 2-year diploma in elementary education or

  • The candidate with a graduation score of minimum 50% and passed or appearing for the 1-year bachelor in education or

  • The candidate must have done graduation with at least 45% and passed or appearing in the 1-year bachelor in education as per the NCTE regulations or

  • Must have passed class 12th with at least 50% and passed or appeared for the final year of the 4-year bachelor in elementary education course or

  • Must have passed 12th with minimum 50% and passed or appeared for the final year of the 4-year BA/B.Sc.Ed or BA.Ed/B.Sc.Ed or

  • Must have pursued graduation with at least 50% or must have passed or appeared for the 1-year B.Ed (Special Education)

TET Exam 2023-24 Application Form

To appear for the exam, candidates need to fill in TET exam 2023-24 application form online by logging in to the official website. Then they have to click on ‘Apply Online’ and will be taken to the instructions page. They will have to read all the basic instructions regarding the application process and after reading all the instructions carefully, they can apply online.

Candidates will have to fill in all the details and click on ‘Next’. There is also a reset button to edit the filled in information. After ‘Next’, candidates will be redirected to a Review Page and after that, they will have to click on the ‘Final Submit’ button. After that, a registration number will be issued to the candidate which needs to be kept safe for future use.

It must be noted that all the Teachers Eligibility Test conducting bodies will release TET Exam 2023-24 Application Form separately on their official websites. There is no centralized application process to apply for all the TET exams except for CTET which is conducted by CBSE all over India.

TET 2023-24 Exam Pattern

TET exam 2023-24 will have two papers, paper 1 and 2. Both papers will have 150 multiple-choice questions. Every question will have four options and out of the four, only one will be right. For every right answer, candidates will get 1 mark and there will be no negative marking. The duration to solve each paper is 2 hours and 30 minutes.

How to Check TET Result 2023-24?

TET result is released on the official website in PDF form. The candidates can follow the steps mentioned below to check TET result 2023-24:

TET Result: Certificate Validity

Once a candidate qualifies the TET exam, he/ she is entitled to receive a certificate of qualification. Different states have prescribed different time period for the validity of TET certificate. Like the UP TET cerificate is valid for 5 years. The validity of the CTET certificate is lifetime. This signifies that once a candidate clears the exam and obtains the CTET certificate, he/ she will be eligible to apply in any central  or state government school for the position of a teacher. After getting the CTET certificate, candidates can apply to all state government teaching jobs.

Why is TET conducted?

The Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) is conducted to assess an individual's suitability for employment as a teacher in any Indian school. A candidate must pass the TET exam, which is administered by the relevant government in compliance with the National Council for Teacher Education's (NCTE) requirements, in order to be eligible for schooling under the Right to Education (RTE) Act. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) administers the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) at the National level. State-level TETs, including TS TET, UPTET, REET, TNTET, MAHA TET, OTET, HP TET, KTET, and others, are held annually by various states.

What is the minimum TET eligibility?

To be eligible to take the TET 2023, applicants must meet the specified requirements, which include meeting the age and educational requirements. The basic qualifying requirements are:

  • Applicants must have completed class 12 or be a graduate of an accredited institution with at least 45% of the possible points.

Am I eligible for TET 2023 after 12th?

Candidates are only eligible for the Paper 1 of the TET exam after completing the Class 12th education. Candidates must have completed their Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university in order to be eligible for both Paper 1 and Paper 2 of the TET exams.

What is a good TET score?

A good TET score is anything above 100 out of 150, which is the total marks of the exam. Since the TET exam is not a competitive exam and candidates who meet the minimum score to qualify for the exam are issued the TET eligibility certificate, every candidate who scores the minimum qualifying score is eligible for the recruitment process.

Is there any age limit for TET eligibility?

There is a minimum age requirement of 18 years for candidates who wish to appear for any TET exam. This means candidates must be atleast 18 years of age to appear for the TET exams. On the other hand, there is no upper age limit for appearing in any of the TET exams and their subsequent selection processes.

What is the minimum attempt limit for TET?

The TET conducting authoreities have not set a limit to the number of attempts a candidate takes for the TET exam. Candidates who wish to appear for the TET exam to seek teaching positions can appear for their preferred TET exam as many times as they want as long as they meet the eligibility requirements for the exam. Candidates must make sure they fulfill all the eligibility requirements before they apply for the TET exam.

What is the validity of TET 2023 Result?

The TET eligibility certificate is given to candidates who qualify for the exam. The TET certification is currently good for life. In June 2021, the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) decided to extend the TET certificate's validity to indefinitely. As long as they meet the requirements set forth by the school, candidates who pass the TET exam once and receive their certificate are eligible to apply for teacher recruitment.
