NEET 2022 Chemistry Study Plan: Preparation Strategy, Timetable, Chapter-Wise Weightage

NEET 2022 is just around the corner. The National Testing Agency has scheduled the exam to take place on July 17 this year. With so little time left for the D-day, students seem to have a lot of queries and doubts regarding the syllabus, important chapters and topics to cover. Many students have been asking for the NEET 2022 Chemistry Study Plan, as it is an important portion of the NEET Syllabus. Aspirants who wish to score high marks in the entrance exam must give weightage to the Chemistry section. Not sure how to go about it? Fret not! CollegeDekho has your back. In this article, we have collated all the important chapters that you should be focusing on two months before the NEET 2022 Exam, the best Chemistry books to clear your concepts, and a comprehensive NEET 2022 Chemistry Study Plan to help you ace your preparation.

NEET 2022 Chemistry: What Makes It Unavoidable

Many students tend to fear the Chemistry section because of the abstract nature of many chemical concepts. Others may find memorizing the tables and chemical formulas difficult. Chapters on Physical Chemistry and Organic Chemistry may seem hard to grasp for many students. Due to all these reasons, they end up avoiding the Chemistry section. But when you are aiming for NEET, skipping the Chemistry section altogether may not be a smart thing to do because that will majorly affect your scores and rank.

If you know how to approach the subject and learn the concepts instead of mumbling the formulas and taking down notes blindly, Chemistry will seem a lot easier and more fun. Once you have understood the basic concept, you can proceed to solve test papers to evaluate your performance.

NEET 2022 Chemistry Exam Pattern

If you look at the NEET 2022 Chemistry Question Pattern, you will see that the section has two parts – Section A and Section B. Section A comprises 35 questions, each carrying 4 marks. Section B consists of 15 questions of 4 marks each. Therefore, the total marks allotted to Section A and Section B are 140 and 40, respectively.

The division and marking scheme of NEET Chemistry are tabulated below:

Section

Total Number of Questions

Total Marks

Section A

35

140

Section B

15

40

Total

50 (45 to be answered)

Cracking NEET 2022 Chemistry with good marks is quite possible if prepared well in advance. Students targeting a score of 160+ must answer at least 40 out of the 45 questions correctly.

NEET 2022 Chemistry Syllabus

The Chemistry syllabus for NEET 2022 is quite comprehensive. The section majorly includes chapters from your Class 11 & Class 12 syllabus. Therefore, students can rest assured that most of the topics have already been covered in the (10+2) Board Exams. All that needs to be done is to revise the concepts. The complete NEET Chemistry syllabus is tabulated below for your reference:

Points to Remember When Preparing NEET Chemistry Study Plan

For your last-minute preparations, keep these points in mind:

  • Questions from the Physical Chemistry are mostly formula-based, so make sure you are well versed with all the formulas

  • Organic Chemistry is solely based on the students’ learning ability. This section is also the most scoring because the questions are direct and to the point. Therefore, the candidate must learn all the names and chemical reactions by heart.

  •  Inorganic Chemistry can be scoring if a student learns and understands the concepts instead of memorizing by heart.

  • Revise the Periodic Table every day till you have it at your fingertips

  • Be selective, choose the topics that carry more weightage

  • Read NCERT books thoroughly and prioritize chapters based on the previous trends

  • Solve sample papers on NEET 2022 Chemistry

  • Sit for mock tests regularly once you are done covering the important chapters

NEET 2022 Chemistry Study Plan: How to Score 160+

With the number of applicants rising every year, there’s no denying that the competition in NEET is going to be tough. Under such circumstances, the first step should be devising a study plan with achievable goals to remind you of your everyday course of action. If your dream is to get admission to a Govt. medical college, securing 600+ marks in overall NEET is imperative. And scoring high marks in Chemistry will only help you get there with ease. Here, take a look at some of the useful NEET preparation tips from the toppers to secure 160+ marks in Chemistry:

Get a Grip on the Syllabus

Familiarize yourself with the NEET 2022 Chemistry Syllabus. Refer to previous question patterns to understand chapter-wise weightage, how many questions need to be answered and the topics that need to be prioritized. Keep in mind that 40 out of 45 questions need to be answered right. Know about all the important chapters and topics in each of the three sections – Physical, Organic and Inorganic Chemistry before you begin your preparations.

Customize A Doable Timetable

Start by creating a timetable that is easy to keep up with. As a student, you must have a dozen other things to catch up with, so make sure your timetable has everything adjusted – right from when your day starts, your study time, playtime, lunch or dinner time to sleep time. You can divide your day as per the tasks on your to-do list. For instance – spend 2-3 hours in the morning revising a chapter, take a 10-minute break and then again spend 3 hours solving test papers till it is time for lunch. Initially, it may seem difficult to match the timetable but once you get the hang of it, you will be able to follow it efficiently.

Jot Down Notes & Revise Daily

When reading textbooks, make a habit of taking down notes. Many times, the things we read tend to slip our minds soon after. But once you jot them down, chances are you will remember them long after. Even if you don’t remember, just a look at the note will help you recollect the formulas and tables. This also helps save time since you need not go through the entire paragraph from the book all over again. You can simply turn the pages of your notepad and see the highlighted section where you have written down important points.

Don’t Skip Your NCERT Books

When it comes to acing NEET 2022 preparation, we could not agree more with experts on recommending NCERT books. These books comprise all the vital topics in detail; all the derivations and formulas are explained so you have a conceptual understanding of the same. Check out the list of best NCERT books for NEET Chemistry along with study materials available online.

Solve Previous Question Papers

Practising previous years’ test papers is the key to cracking NEET with flying colours. The more you solve sample papers, the better you understand the question pattern. Once you have solved the paper, you can match your answers with the previous years’ answer keys to see how many you got right. Don’t lose heart if you do not get the correct answer. You can learn from your mistakes and focus on strengthening the weak points so you don’t repeat them when it is time for the actual exam.

Opt for Mock Tests Daily

A month prior to the NEET 2022 Exam, start taking mock tests regularly. Mock tests are a great way to assess yourself and improve your time management skills. The questions appear in the same order as they would appear in the actual exam, so you get accustomed to the question paper. Try to take at least 2-3 tests a day. At the end of each session, match your answers and evaluate your score and plan ahead accordingly.

Alongside following these NEET Exam Preparation Tips, candidates must also learn to prioritize their health and mental well-being. Gearing up for the entrance exam can be mentally taxing and extremely stressful. Therefore, eat right, sleep well, and take short breaks in between to stay focused on your goal.

We hope the NEET 2022 Chemistry Study Plan will help aspirants score well above the expected cut-off and achieve the desired results. For more information and the latest updates on NEET 2022, stay tuned to CollegeDekho!
