Important Last Minute Tips for GATE 2023

Here is the list of some last-minute tips and tricks for the candidates appearing in the GATE 2023 examination

Revision

Candidates often prepare well for examinations only to forget the prime concepts that they have studied on the day of the exam. The major reason behind this is the lack of revision specifically in the days leading up to the exam. Allotting a specific time for revision in the daily preparation schedule of the candidates is crucial for better preparation.

Practice

Practicing the sample papers and previous year question papers of GATE will not only increase your confidence level but will also help you identify the frequently asked questions. With only a few months left for the exam, you should practice as many question papers as possible on a daily basis. Utilize the remaining time to identify your areas of weakness.

Identify your areas for improvement

As you continue revising your notes and solving the GATE sample papers, you might come across certain areas where you falter frequently or clarity. Go through the prepared notes again and try to solve questions of varying difficulty levels to minimize your weak points.

Avoid studying new topics

Beginning a new topic will reduce your revision time and might be puzzling for you. Candidates often attempt to cover every topic mentioned in the syllabus and end up remembering only a portion of it. It will be a better alternative to focus on key topics and answering questions about them.

Do a mock exam rehearsal

Locate a quiet area and begin attempting any mock test or sample paper. Attempt the test by setting a timer of 3 hours and try to complete the test within that time period. This practice will help you assess your time management and accuracy skills

Keep track of time

The pre-exam period is a crucial time for candidates to utilize to the best of their capacity. Candidates are advised not to waste time watching movies or planning a day out with friends as every minute is of utmost value during this time. Make a small pocket notebook to note down important points related to the subjects and go back to it frequently to increase your recall skills.
