How to Start Preparing for JEE Main 2024?

Applicants planning to sit for the JEE main exam have one common question; how to start the preparation. The JEE Main 2024 syllabus is vast with many topics and chapters to be covered. Therefore, applicants must begin preparation by creating a timetable and concentrating on building time management skills and discipline. Some significant aspects that students must focus on while beginning their preparation are:
  • Candidates should always start a practice of studying every day. With time they will be able to study for long hours without renouncing their concentration level
  • Building up a personal interest in all three PCM subjects i.e. Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics
  • Understand the topics and problems. Candidates should never aim at mugging up the topics and problems
  • Working on the calculations when it comes to terms such as speed and accuracy of the candidate. They need to focus on accuracy as well as completing a particular problem fast. This is an art. Hence, needs to practice
  • Improving their analytical skills. Try solving the same problem with different methods. This will help to find out ways where it can be solved in less time
  • If a candidate aims at starting the preparation from class 12, then class 11 should be studied well. The basics should be understood without any loopholes
  • After the class 11 topics are covered, class 12 topics should be covered next
  • If the class 11 topics are not covered well and the candidate is already in class 12. Spend more time other than the coaching and class 12 topics to complete the syllabus of class 11.

When to Start JEE Main 2024 Preparation?

The majority of students begin JEE Main 2024 exam preparation in class 11, however, it's never too late if a student is committed to passing the test. Experts recommend that JEE Main aspirants begin preparing for the test as soon as feasible. For example, preparing alongside the board examinations is an excellent habit. This will offer the JEE aspirant an advantage over their competition and allow them to better comprehend the subjects when they are taught in school. However, many people ace the exam after only a few months of preparation. As a result, it is also determined by the candidate's skill, devotion, and the effectiveness of their preparation plan.

While developing a JEE Main 2024 study plan, the first thought that arises in an aspirant's mind is which is more important: how long to study or how much to study. Well, to crack the national level exam like JEE Main, you need to study for long hours.

JEE Main 2024 Study Plan

An overall JEE Main 2024 preparation has been discussed in the pointers below.
  • The first piece of advice to the candidates is not to make any study timetables right now. In the initial level be accustomed to the topics, syllabus, and JEE Main Exam Pattern 2024. Understand them. Once the syllabus and exam pattern are understood well, prepare a timetable that requires to be followed regularly
  • Maintain consistency. Daily study is the most important skill needed to crack JEE Main 2024
  • Abide from social networking sites and other distractions that kill time
  • Study the NCERT books thoroughly without any loopholes
  • When researching a particular topic, it is always advised to read the theory part first and then practice the numerical problems. The way to understand concepts in a better way is to understand the theory first then if the numerical are not well understood, read the theory once again
  • Do not look for an example in the book. Practice all the questions thoroughly
  • Construct problem-solving a habit. If candidates are stuck on a harder problem, it is advised to start solving easier problems. When small problems get fixed, it gives a feeling of winning that helps to push self-determination more
  • Clear up all the doubts from the teachers irrespective of how small it is. These small doubts will someday stag up into a huge pile of doubts
  • Prepare notes on whatever is learned. Make separate notebooks for 1) Theory points, notes, and formulas. 2) Practicing question
  • Take guidance from a renowned coaching institute
  • Sleep at least 7-8 hours a day. Lack of sleep may lead to stress and lack of concentration
  • Refer to the Best Books for JEE Main 2024 from professional writers such as HC Verma, R D Sharma, DC Pandey, etc.

JEE Main 2024 Exam Pattern

JEE Main 2024 Subject Wise Plan

The subject-wise preparation plan has been highlighted here. There are some changes in the JEE Main syllabus 2024 PDF that the candidates need to pay attention to. There has been an addition as well as subtraction of topics from Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. We have discussed the JEE Main 2024 Preparation Tips for Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics subjects below.

JEE Main 2024 Physics

  • Comprehending the concepts and interpreting problems is the enigma to achieving well in JEE Main 2024 Physics.
  • Understanding the basics of the topic rather than memorizing it will help more.
  • Be ideal with the ideas. It is a discourtesy to solve problems without being transparent about topics and concepts.
  • Numerical-based problems and conceptual-based questions are important for JEE Main 2024.
  • Go through the JEE Main 2024 Physics Chapter Wise Weightage and study the important topics thoroughly.
  • The procedure of solving MCQs in Physics – Always read the theory, then proceed to solve all the questions solved by the mentors, proceed to solve MCQs from coaching modules, and then continue solving any other book.
  • Directly solving MCQs will not clear all concepts and doubts.
  • Practice questions following a routine(fixing a timer). This will increase the speed of solving, and analyzing power and enhance the interest in concepts
  • Be careful about the signs (negative and positive) and units while solving Physics problems.

Changes in the syllabus:

How to Handle JEE Main 2024 Preparation with Board Exams?

Candidates who are preparing for their JEE Main 2024, as well as their board exams simultaneously, need to worry much. The syllabus of classes 11 and 12 is very close to that of the syllabus of JEE Main 2024. Candidates will be well prepared for school board exams when they study for the JEE Main entrance exam. If candidates put in their best effort, stay focused, and avoid distractions, they can easily score excellent marks in JEE Main as well as board exams.

Here are some of the tips if there is a preparation tie between board exams and JEE Main 2024:

Tip 1. Mastering both long theoretical answers and fast calculation-based problems is the key

Tip 2. Candidates need to note that, the board exams have a step-wise marking scheme which means that candidates get points for only the correct points even if the latter part of the answer is wrong. Therefore they are advised to write in points and prepare flowcharts and diagrams while writing the answers. Whereas in JEE Main exam, Candidates are required to answer in the shortest possible time with rough calculations.

Tip 3. Solve JEE Main Previous year’s question papers and sample papers as well as boards. It will help the candidates to manage time, become familiar with the exam pattern, build confidence, and increase accuracy.

Tip 4. There are a few things that have to be avoided. The following are points that need to be avoided by the candidates:

Backlogs and Procrastination

Procrastination is a very lazy habit that needs to be avoided while preparing for JEE Main. Competing for the projects and assignments and clarifying the doubts on time help to reach the goals

Referring to too many reference books

Candidates should not refer to too many textbooks. This may create confusion. All the Candidates should not be taught that reading too many books can fetch good scores on boards as well JEE Main

Social media and video games

Avoid playing video games and social media as these kill time and affect the concentration level of the candidate

Depression

Another major cause that is noticed in the candidates is depression due to low scores in preparatory exams. Everyone learns from their mistakes. With mistakes, success seems to be much sweeter

Avoiding Coaching centers

Candidates should always refer to coaching centers during their JEE Main preparation. The experience of the teachers is required for effective preparation which will be absent in the self-study. Teachers will help the candidates resolve all their doubts, clear their misconceptions, and guide them in the right direction to achieve good results

According to Ayush Dubey~IIT Bombay,

“Believe me, it's a bit easier on you now. During my time, board marks were also counted as JEE Mains. So, we had to manage between both the preparations compulsorily. Board marks apart from the 75% eligibility have no direct impact on Jee Advanced”.
