CTET 2022 Online Test Instructions

CTET 2022 notification will be available on on May 15, 2022. Details such as eligibility requirements, exam date, and exam centre will be included in the official notification. CTET 2022 will be administered in July 2022 for the CTET December 2022-January 2022 cycle. The CTET certificate will now be valid for a lifetime, according to the most recent upgrade. Paper 1 and Paper 2 of the CTET 2022 Exam will be held in two sessions. Candidates who wish to teach grades 1 to 5 must take CTET Paper 1, whereas candidates who want to teach grades 6 to 8 must take CTET Paper 2. Candidates who want to teach grades 1 through 8 must take both Paper 1 and Paper 2 of the examination.

What is Computer Based Test?

The computer-based test or the online test is the process where the candidates sit in front of a computer. Each candidate will be allocated computers according to their roll number and admit card. The candidates will have to log in to the computer using their registration number. When the exam starts, the questions will appear on the computer screen one by one. The candidates will have to select the correct option on the computer using their mouse. The candidates will also have the option to change/modify/edit answers entered at any time during the examination.


There are two papers in the exam: I and II. Child development and pedagogy, language I and II, mathematics, and environmental studies each have 30 MCQs in Paper I. Paper II has 30 multiple-choice questions in child development and pedagogy, language I and II, and 60 multiple-choice questions in mathematics and science or social studies/sciences. Each paper has 150 multiple-choice questions. Candidates must choose two different languages for the language papers.

CTET 2022 Online Test Instructions

The candidates must keep in mind the following instructions for CTET 2022 online test:

General Instructions

  • After logging in, the important instructions for the exam will be displayed on the screen which will demonstrate how the candidates have to answer the questions. It is very important to go through the exam instructions carefully before proceeding with the test.

  • The exam will be conducted for a total of 150 minutes. The clock will be set at 0 on the server and the countdown will start when you start the exam. When the timer reaches zero, the examination will end by itself. You will not be required to end or submit your examination.

  • There will be a question palette on the right side of the screen which will show the status of each of the questions. The palette will have a color code for different statuses which will look like this:

  • The Marked for Review status means that you will look at the question once again.

Navigating Through the Questions

  • You will have to click on the respective question number in the question palette in order to go to that question.

  • You will have to click on “Save & Next” to save your answer or else the answer will not be saved.

  • If you want to mark the question for later and save your answer, click on “Mark for Review & Next”.

Answering the Questions

  • Click on the option which you think is correct.

  • If you want to deselect the option, you can click on “Clear Response”.

  • Click on “Save & Next” to save your answer or “Mark for Review & Next” to save it for review.

Navigating Through Sections

  • The sections included in the question paper will be displayed on the top of the computer screen. The section which is currently answered will be highlighted. The candidates can click on any section where they want to go.

  • When the candidates click on “Save & Next” in the last question of a section, they will be directly taken to the next section.

  • The candidates will be able to navigate between sections at any point in time during the exam.

  • The summary of the particular section will be displayed on the top of the screen.

Instructions for Numeric Questions

  • To answer the numerical questions, the candidates will have to use the on-screen virtual keyboard displayed just below the question and enter the answer in the provided space with the mouse.

  • Click on “Save & Next” to save your answer or “Mark for Review & Next” to save it for review.
