NTA JEE Main Result 2023: Normalization Process
The JEE Main exam is held in two sessions, as a result, the level of difficulty varies, and authorities use the process of normalization to address this. The normalized JEE Main 2023 scores released by NTA show the percentage of candidates whose scores are equal to or lower than the highest- in that session.The formula for calculating NTA scores is as follows:
(100 x the number of candidates who appeared in the session with a raw score equal to or less than the candidate) divided by the total number of candidates who appeared in that session
Candidates should be aware that the normalized NTA score does not correspond to the percentage of marks obtained in the JEE Main examination.
JEE Main Result 2023: Percentile Calculation Subject Wise
The NTA computes the JEE Main percentile separately for each subject (Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry, ) as well as in the combined format using the normalization formula shown below.

JEE Main Result 2023: Seat allocation process
Candidates are given admission based on their preferences and JEE Main 2023 All India Ranks through a seat allocation process to be released subsequently by CSAB/JoSAA. The seat allocation process will start after the declaration of the JEE Main 2023 Result. At the time of JEE Main 2023 seat allotment, the verification of essential documents (support of identification, date of birth, qualifying examination, state of eligibility, category, and disability (if any) of the eligible candidates) will be done. If a candidate fails to show any of the required authentic papers, he or she may be denied admission.
At the time of the Seat Allocation process, General, SC, ST, OBC, EWS, and PwD candidates will be required to provide the original certificate in the stipulated formats issued by the relevant authorities, failing which they will not be considered for admission.

The top JEE scores from the two sessions are used by NTA to compile the JEE Main all-India rank list for 2023. By logging in using their login credentials on the official website, candidates will be able to get their JEE Main Rank List 2023 by name. After the official publication of the 2023 JEE Main rank list, candidates will be able to access it via jeemain.nta.nic.in. How JEE Main rank is determined?
The NTA calculates the JEE Main ranks of all the candidates participating in the examination. The rank of each candidate is calculated by the following formula.
- The score is transformed into a percentile, which means the candidate's raw marks are converted into a percentile.
- This is accomplished by computing the session's highest scores. The highest marks are given a score of 100. And the remainder of the candidates' grades is adjusted correspondingly.
- The percentile score is calculated to seven decimal places, allowing each contender to have a unique ranking. This is done to ensure that there are no ties amongst the candidates.
Difference between JEE Main percentage and percentile score 2023
Many candidates are puzzled by the JEE Main percentage and percentile and mistake them for the same thing, despite the fact that they are completely different aspects. The JEE Main percentage is determined by absolute marking, whereas the percentile is determined by relative marking.

The government has recommended that institutes follow a certain reservation when selecting candidates based on the NTA JEE Main result 2023. However, for institutes run by the central government, the table below shows the percentage of seats that should be reserved in institutes run by the central government.

JEE Main Result 2023: Cutoff Marks
The JEE Main cutoff list is based on the percentile declared by NTA once the scores have been prepared. Because the highest score is 100, the remaining candidates will be sorted correspondingly. A list will be created after producing a list in descending order of percentile. The highest percentile will be ranked first, while the lowest percentile will be ranked last. It is called the JEE Main 2023 rank list.

- Opt for JEE Advanced Exam
The JEE Main exam is also a gateway to the JEE Advanced exam. Candidates who want to participate in the JEE Advanced exam and get the qualifying marks. So, candidates who have scored the qualifying marks in the main examination can sit for the advance exam and get admission in the postgraduate program.
- Counseling Session with JoSAA
Candidates who do not wish to take the JEE Advanced test in 2023 or who have not qualified for the exam can simply enroll in the centralized JEE Main 2023 counseling process, i.e. Joint Secretary Allocation Authority Counselling (JoSSA), for admissions to IITs, NITs, and CFITs.

No, candidates can't challenge theJEE Main exam result 2023. The JEE Main 2023 result released the NTA will be final and no further queries will be entertained.
