About GATE Cutoff for IIT Roorkee

The GATE cutoff for IIT Roorkee will be based on several factors. The institute considers the normalised score of the candidates for preparing the GATE cutoff. IIT Roorkee GATE Cutoff 2019

IIT Roorkee will finalise the GATE cutoff 2019 only after the announcement of GATE 2019 results. The M.Tech admission process of IIT Roorkee will be based on GATE cutoff 19, and the candidates applying for the M.Tech course under non-sponsored category will have to clear the cutoff for the admission. In all, qualifying GATE 2019/ 2018/ 2017 is mandatory to get M.Tech admission at IIT Roorkee. The GATE 2019 online application process is underway, and the candidates willing to register must submit the online application form on or before October 01, 2018.

IIT Roorkee will finalise the dates for GATE-based M.Tech admissions in the month of February or March every year. Usually, the M.Tech admission process at IIT Roorkee begins in March. IIT Roorkee M.Tech Admission Process through GATE 2019

IIT Roorkee grants admission to M.Tech courses solely based on GATE merit. IIT Roorkee prepares GATE normalised score to shortlist the eligible candidates for the admission. IIT Roorkee GATE admission normalised score formula is elaborated below.

IIT Roorkee GATE Normalised Score: IIT Roorkee will shortlist the eligible candidates for M.Tech admission based on the GATE normalised score. The institute applies the following formula for normalising the GATE score: -

Normalised GATE Marks = (Normalised Marks Out of 100) / (Maximum marks awarded in that Paper in that year) * 100

Example for IIT Roorkee GATE Normalised Score: Let us assume that marks scored by a candidate in GATE are 64 out of 100 in EE paper, where the maximum marks scored in that paper is 92. The normalised score of the candidate in EE paper of GATE is calculated as follows: -

Normalised GATE Marks in EE Paper of the Candidate = 64/92*100 = 69.57

IIT Roorkee will grant admission to all the GATE qualifiers based on the normalised score and GATE cutoff.

IIT Roorkee M.Tech Admission Process for IIT B.Tech Graduates: IIT Roorkee reserves 10% of seats in M.Tech courses to candidates who have graduated B.Tech course from IITs. These candidates must have CGPA of 8.00 out of 10 in B.Tech degree to be eligible for direct admission without the requirement of GATE.

Eligibility Criteria for IIT B.Tech Graduates:

  • IIT B.Tech graduates must have a B.Tech degree in relevant discipline with CGPA of 8.00/10 to get direct admission in the M.Tech course at IIT Roorkee.
  • GATE qualification is not required for these candidates.

IIT Roorkee M.Tech Application Process

IIT Roorkee M.Tech aspirants must register on two websites for admission. The details regarding IIT Roorkee M.Tech application process is elaborated below: -

Registration for M.Tech Course through IIT Roorkee Website: -

IIT Roorkee will commence the online application process for M.Tech courses after the announcement of GATE 2019 results. IIT Roorkee application process for M.Tech courses will involve the following stages: -

Registration: The candidates can find the registration link for M.Tech admissions on the official website of IIT Roorkee. The candidate must the registration process with some basic details such as personal details of the candidate, mobile number, and e-mail id. After the registration, the candidates will receive login details on their mobile number and e-mail.

Note: Separate application form must be submitted if candidates wish to apply for multiple specialisations.

Application Form Filling: The candidates must log in with the credentials received on their mobile/ e-mail to complete the online application process. During the online application process, the candidates must furnish their education, academic, personal details. The candidates must enter all the details carefully, and proceed to the choice of courses. The candidates can choose relevant to their B.Tech degree and GATE paper. These details cannot be edited further, and candidates are advised to exercise the choices carefully.

Uploading Documents: The candidates must upload the scanned version of prescribed documents along with the online application form: -

​​Payment of Registration/ Application Fee: Finally, the applicants will have to pay the registration/ application fee of Rs. 300 (Rs. 150 for SC/ PD/ ST Category). The requisite fee can be paid online using net banking or debit/credit card.

Registration for M.Tech Course through COAP Portal

After completing the application process on the official website of IIT Roorkee, the candidates must also register on the official website of GATE COAP portal. IIT Roorkee will make admission offers to GATE qualifiers only through COAP website.
