IIT Roorkee finalises the dates for GATE-based M.Tech admissions in the month of March every year. Usually, the M.Tech admission process at IIT Roorkee begins in March. IIT Roorkee grants admission to M.Tech courses solely based on GATE merit. IIT Roorkee prepares GATE normalised score to shortlist the eligible candidates for admission. IIT Roorkee GATE admission normalized score formula is elaborated below.

IIT Roorkee GATE Normalised Score: IIT Roorkee will shortlist the eligible candidates for M.Tech admission based on the GATE normalised score. The institute applies the following formula for normalising the GATE score: -

Normalised GATE Marks = (Normalised Marks Out of 100) / (Maximum marks awarded in that Paper in that year) * 100

Example for IIT Roorkee GATE Normalised Score: Let us assume that marks scored by a candidate in GATE are 64 out of 100 in EE paper, where the maximum marks scored in that paper is 92. The normalised score of the candidate in the EE paper of GATE is calculated as follows: -

Normalised GATE Marks in EE Paper of the Candidate = 64/92*100 = 69.57

IIT Roorkee will commence the online application process for M.Tech courses after the announcement of GATE 2023 results. IIT Roorkee application process for M.Tech courses will involve the following stages: -

Registration: The candidates can find the registration link for M.Tech admissions on the official website of IIT Roorkee. The candidate must the registration process with some basic details such as personal details of the candidate, mobile number, and e-mail id. After the registration, the candidates will receive login details on their mobile number and e-mail.

Note: Separate application form must be submitted if candidates wish to apply for multiple specialisations.

Application Form Filling: The candidates must log in with the credentials received on their mobile/ e-mail to complete the online application process. During the online application process, the candidates must furnish their education, academic, personal details. The candidates must enter all the details carefully, and proceed to the choice of courses. The candidates can choose relevant to their B. Tech degree and GATE paper. These details cannot be edited further, and candidates are advised to exercise their choices carefully.
