JoSAA Mock Allotment 2022 – Dates, Steps to Check, Edit Choices

JoSAA Mock Allotment 2022: The Joint Seat Allocation Authority has released the JoSAA second mock allotment 2022 result on September 20, 2022. The 2nd round mock result can be checked in online mode on its official website, josaa.nic.in. To check the mock allotment candidates have to enter their login credentials like JEE Main application number and password.

Earlier, JoSAA 2022 1st mock seat allocation result was released on September 18, 2022. The result of the JoSAA 2022 seat allocation are announced at josaa.nic.in by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority. The direct link to check the mock allotment was activated at 11:30 am and is available here and on the "Candidate Login portal of the JoSAA website". Candidates can check their 1st  and 2nd mock allotment status of JoSAA and edit the college options (if required). Candidates can lock their choices till September 21, 2022. Furthermore, the Joint Seat Allocation officials will publish the JoSAA Round 1 seat allotment 2022 on September 23, 2022. 

The JoSAA 2022 1st round mock allotment is not the final allotment but it just gives a tentative idea of the admission chances. Based on the mock allotment result, the candidates can alter their choices accordingly. It is also important to check the previous year’s JoSAA cutoff/ opening & closing ranks to get a basic idea while filling or editing the choices. Candidates who have filled choices shall be considered for mock allotment. The mock allotment of JoSAA 2022 is not final, and the candidates need to wait for the actual JoSAA seat allotment.

What is JoSAA Mock Allotment?

Mock allotment gives an idea to candidates regarding the admission chances based on the choices filled while registering for JoSAA counselling. In simple words, mock allotment is also called a trial allotment. The mock allotment and actual seat allotment results may vary. 

The JoSAA authorities will open the window for candidates to register for the JoSAA mock round on the official website. It is advisable for candidates to select as many institutes and programmes as they can. Candidates will need to lock their choices by the deadline. The last saved choices will be picked automatically if they don't lock the options. The candidates will be divided into the following groups during the JoSAA 2022 seat allocation:

  • GEN PwD
  • OBC-NCL
  • OBC-NCL PwD
  • SC

  • Visit the official website of JoSAA, i.e., www.josaa.nic.in
  • Click on the option that indicates ‘Mock Allocation (1) based on Choice Filling’
  • Enter the JEE Main Application Number, Password and Security PIN to log in
  • Check the mock allotment result option on the login portal
  • Your mock allotment result will be displayed on the screen
  • You can edit your college choices based on the mock allotment result

Tips to Edit Choices as per JoSAA 2022 Mock Allotment

Here are some of the tips that will help you in editing college choices as per the JoSAA 2022 mock allotment –

  • In most cases, the first option chosen by the candidates will be allocated in the mock allotment. If the candidates do not get an allotment based on the first choice, he/ she can edit the choices accordingly
  • It is always important to check the previous 2-3 years’ JoSAA closing ranks to understand the seat allotment trends
  • If you do not get an allotment as per the first mock allotment, edit the choices and wait for the second mock allotment. While editing the choices make sure that you checked previous years’ closing ranks
  • Mock allotment result is 60% accurate and some candidates may get the same seat in the actual seat allotment

What to Do if Seat is Not Allotted in JoSAA Mock Allotment 2022?

Before the actual seat allotment result of JoSAA counselling, two mock seat allotment results are released to give a tentative idea to candidates about the college admission chances.
