JoSAA Mock Allotment 2023 – Dates, Steps to Check, Edit Choices

JoSAA Mock Allotment 2023 -  The Joint Seat Allocation Authority released the JoSAA Mock Seat Allotment Result for Round 2 on June 27, 2023, at josaa.admissions.nic.in. Earlier, the JoSAA mock allotment 2023 result for round 1 was released on June 25, 2023. To check the mock allotment candidates had to enter their login credentials JEE Main 2023 application number and password. Following the mock allotment, the authorities commenced the round-wise JoSAA seat allotment on June 30, 2023. The JEE Advanced 2023 result was released along with the final answer keys on June 18, 2023.

JoSAA mock seat allotment 2023 is for candidates to only have a basic idea about the college and stream they get during the counselling as per their ranks and category. The JoSAA 2023 First round mock allotment is not the final allotment but it just gives a tentative idea of the admission chances. Based on the mock allotment result, the candidates can alter their choices accordingly. It is also important to check the previous year’s JoSAA 2023 cutoff or opening & closing ranks to get a basic idea while filling in or editing the choices. What is JoSAA Mock Allotment 2023?

Mock allotment gives an idea to candidates regarding the admission chances based on the choices filled in while registering for JoSAA 2023 counselling. In simple words, a mock allotment is also called a trial allotment. The mock allotment and actual seat allotment results may vary. 

The JoSAA authorities opened the window for candidates to register for the JoSAA 2023 mock round on the official website. It is advisable for candidates to select as many institutes and programmes as they can. Candidates will need to lock their choices by the deadline. The last saved choices will be picked automatically if they don't lock the options. The candidates will be divided into the following groups during the JoSAA 2023 seat allocation:

Tips to Edit Choices as per JoSAA 2023 Mock Allotment

Here are some of the tips that will help you in editing college choices as per the JoSAA mock allotment 2023 –

  • In most cases, the first option chosen by the candidates will be allocated in the mock allotment. If the candidates do not get an allotment based on the first choice, he/ she can edit the choices accordingly
  • It is always important to check the previous 2-3 years’ JoSAA closing ranks to understand the seat allotment trends
  • If you do not get an allotment as per the first mock allotment, edit the choices and wait for the second mock allotment. While editing the choices make sure that you checked previous years’ closing ranks
  • Mock allotment result is 60% accurate and some candidates may get the same seat in the actual seat allotment

What to Do if Seat is Not Allotted in JoSAA Mock Allotment 2023?

Before the actual seat allotment result of JoSAA 2023 counselling, two mock seat allotment results are released to give a tentative idea to candidates about the college admission chances. Based on the choices filled by candidates, the mock allotment result is processed. Once the JoSAA 2023 mock allotment result is released, the aspirants can edit the choices. In some cases, the candidates may not get an allotment in the mock round. In such cases, the candidates need not worry. Steps to Follow if No Seat is Allotted in JoSAA Mock Round 2023

Here are the important steps that a candidate can follow if no seat is allotted in JoSAA mock round 2023 –

Re-Check the Filled-In Options: The first step to follow if an allotment is not made in the mock round is re-checking/ re-assessing the options filled. It is important to check the first five options that you filled in the mock round. For the first five options filled, check the previous years’ JoSAA opening & closing ranks.

Re-Arrange the Options: Once you check the previous years’ closing ranks, try re-arranging the options and wait for the second mock allotment.

JoSAA 2023 Seat Allotment 

The seat allotment process conducted by JoSAA consists of six rounds, wherein candidates are allocated seats based on their marks, category, preferred choices, and seat availability. Once candidates have been allotted seats, they are required to download a provisional JoSAA seat allotment letter and an e-challan for the payment of the seat acceptance fee. To obtain the provisional JoSAA seat allotment letter, please follow the steps outlined below:

  • Visit the official JoSAA website for the year 2023.
  • Locate and click on the JoSAA Seat Allotment Link.
  • Log in using your JEE Main 2023 Application number and password.
  • Click on the 'Submit' button to proceed.
  • Upon successful registration, a provisional JoSAA 2023 Seat Allotment letter will be displayed on the screen.
  • Download the provisional letter of JoSAA 2023 and ensure to print a hard copy for future reference.

By following these steps, you can easily obtain your provisional JoSAA 2023 Seat Allotment letter and stay informed about your allocated seat.

What's Next after JoSAA Seat Allocation 2023?

Once candidates have been allocated seats through JoSAA, they will need to choose from the following options:

  1. Freeze: Candidates who are satisfied with their allocated seats and do not wish to participate in any further rounds of JoSAA Counselling 2023.
  2. Float: Candidates who are content with their allotted seat but would like to be considered for other participating institutes in subsequent rounds of JoSAA Seat Allotment.
  3. Slide: Candidates who accept the allocated seat but are also open to admission into their other preferred courses within the same institute.

Candidates who accept a seat must proceed by paying the seat acceptance fee using either the e-challan or SBI Net Banking. It's important to ensure that the payment is made specifically for JoSAA Counselling 2023 fees, which will be adjusted against the admission fee of the chosen institute.

JoSAA 2023 Mock Allotment: List of documents is required for verification

  • Two passport-size identical photographs (same as uploaded during JEE Main/Advanced 2023 registration)
  • Class 12th performance check
  • Provisional seat allotment letter
  • Undertaking by the candidate as per the given format
  • Seat acceptance payment receipt
  • Photo identity card issued by a government agency or last attended school or Class XII admit card
  • JEE Advanced Admit Card 2023
  • Date of birth proof (Class X marks sheet)
  • JEE Main 2023 Score Card
  • Class XII (or equivalent) board mark sheet and passing certificate (if available)
  • Medical certificate as per the given format
  • Category certificate (OBC-NCL/SC/ST) if applicable and as per the given format
  • Certificate for Persons with Disabilities (PwD), if applicable
  • Passport of the candidates and parents (for foreign nationals) / OCI certificate or PIO card if applicable
  • DS Certificate (if applicable)
