CBSE Class 12 Board Exam Preparation Tips 2022

Here are some useful study tips to help you prepare for the CBSE Class 12 examination, effectively.

1. Choose the Right Time to Begin the Preparation

Every student has different learning skills and capacity for studying. Some do great by beginning early, while some can do great even after beginning a few months before the exams. So, giving a fixed time of preparation to every student would not be an ideal tip. However, starting your Class 12 board exam preparation at the earliest never hurts. This gives you a lot of time to revise and practice sample papers. You will also have plenty of time in your hands to check the progress of your preparation, time-to-time.

2. Make a Time-Table

Making a timetable, if not most then, is one of the most important things about your CBSE 12th board preparation. You do not have to make a study plan for a very long time if that does not go with your convenience. You can begin with making weekly plans and targets. Even making daily targets would help. Start with easily achievable goals and as you progress along with your preparation, start giving yourself a higher goal. Make sure to leave plenty of time for recreational activities and rest.

3. Allocated Time to Self-study

After your school or coaching classes, you should commit to studying and practising the subjects you have learned in school or coaching. You also need to spare enough time so that you are able to meet some of the prefixed study goals.

4. Practise CBSE Sample Papers

It is recommended that you go through the CBSE Class 12 sample papers released by the board prior to the board exam. CBSE sample papers are issued by the board for all class subjects. This can prove to be very helpful and practice as by solving the sample papers, you will know about the board marking schemes and how the answers will be graded in board exams. When solving the sample paper, you also need to ensure the important sections are highlighted so that one day before the examination, you can easily go through them.

5. Time Management is the Key

Time management is a crucial skill that is not only required at the time of the preparation but also while taking the test. Days go by like minutes when you are preparing for an exam. So, make the most out of each day and hour. Try making your every day productive. If talking about the exam duration, even three hours feel like 30 minutes. With time skipping quicker than the imagination, your great management skills will come to your rescue. If you are stuck on a question while taking the test, do not waste too much time on it. Move forward and when you have some time left in the end, work on it.

The anxiety that arises during the planning and preparation of the CBSE Class 12 exam is an inevitable part of the process. It is normal to feel discouraged about the lack of preparation or the failure to speed up the learning pace, but you should not let yourself get consumed by that emotion. Rather than feeling sorry, you should realise your shortcomings and weak points and spend more time improving them.

7. NCERT Textbooks are the Holy Grail

A large portion of the CBSE 12th examination contains NCERT textbook questions and topics. To solve the question quickly, cover all the major topics, including diagrams and graphs, with solved examples. At first, the number of questions may be daunting, so you can start with chapters with the maximum weightage under different sections. While preparing, make sure you mark the important and challenging questions and keep a reference book together with the NCERT textbooks for quick revision

8. Importance of Writing Skills

It is no secret that the question papers of some subjects require you to write a lot within the stipulated time. So, practice writing long answers, essays and anything relevant. Working on your writing speed and the legibility of it would also help. Writing practices not only strengthen the speed and confidence but also allow you to understand the main keywords you must mention in the Class 12 exam. Whenever possible, try to present the answers in points, accompanied by labelled diagrams. These little things could make you stand out from the rest of the students. A neat answer is a non-negotiable advantage for a student in the CBSE Class 12 Exam.

9. Make a Plan to Learn Long Answers

When learning long answers, some students are panicked, as it is never easy to answer long questions. If you also suffer from this problem, there's good news for you. You can easily overcome this anxiety. You need to prepare a long-term learning strategy such as splitting the answer into paragraphs, connecting the answer to real-life scenarios so that they can be stored in the brain for a long time.

10. Practicing Previous Years Question/ Sample Papers

After completing the revision of the entire syllabus, you should solve as many previous years question papers as possible. Practising the sample papers assists you to track your preparation and to realise where you lack. It will also help in revealing your strong areas.

11. Regular Breaks are Important

Avoid studying for long and non-stop hours. Take breaks every 50 to 60 minutes instead. These are vital and help to calm your brain and regain energy to plan the next study session. Regular breaks help keep the brain alert and focused.

12. Throw Away the Fear of the Exam

Fear, anxiety and tension affect the preparation and, eventually, the results of the board exam. Instead of getting nervous, brace yourself for the exam with a relaxed mind. You only need to put your best efforts, and the result will inevitably turn out to be the best.

13. Write the Exam Appropriately

After preparing hard, it is time for you to demonstrate the hard work on the answer sheet. In order to write answers with the best possible time, you must follow proper techniques and strategies. Before beginning to write the test, make the best use of the 15 minutes of reading time allotted.

14. Stay Healthy

Without a healthy body to inhabit, your mind will not stay healthy. So, take good care of yourself by eating properly, not overburdening yourself with studies and taking proper rest. Keep your mind refreshed by engaging in recreational activities. It could be dancing, listening to music, reading novels, watching shows or anything.

CBSE 12th Postponement: Make the Most Out of it
